For consistancy.Originally posted by MorphorinoWhy play so many first teamers, when we can give them a rest and maybe do some morale building exercises instead.
We have been struggling in that department so far this new season, i think bringing in too many youngsters and getting beatten badly will do more damage than good. We need continuity within the team at the moment.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I don't think it matters for a pointless game, we've secured the primary objective If Rafa just says to the reserves go out and show what you can do I'm sure they will do well. We could also pick up pointless injuries in what could be a rough game. Also if he's happy to do i in the Carling cup, why not this match.
However I'm pretty sure he can't send the reserves because he will have had to declare his euro squad before the group stage I think and I doubt there's many ressies in it.Thomas Hicks Senior

There's no point playing 4 or 5 youngsters in the team, they might as well play in the reserves. New players need to play in the Liverpool team i.e. only 1 or 2 at a time so they get the experience of playing in the first team rather than the reserve team against 1st team opposition."that is my opinion and that is more important than what anyone else has to say about it" - Mr A.Fergusson, Oct 2011

Originally posted by friedkI think the Gala game is the perfect opportunity seeing as the result is meaningless to both teams, so it's really just a friendly, but under competitive conditions.
We could play the following in Turkey:
Miki Roque
Stephen Darby
Paul Anderson
Daniel Guthrie
Adam Hammill
Lee Peltier
Craig Lindfield
On Anderson - I've read wlsewhere on the web that he is getting a rep for being a party boy since his elevation to Melwood and could go off the rails. He alos reminds me of our last great winger hope - Richie Partridge - so I dont expect too much from himIt's my job to handle life and death situations on a daily basis. It's what I do, and I'm very good at it.

That's a good point. Bring in a couple and let them know that they'll play against Fulham as well if they put up a good showing.Originally posted by BillobShaisleyThere's no point playing 4 or 5 youngsters in the team, they might as well play in the reserves. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

Rafa doesnt even tell our first teamers when they are playing though, they only find out on the day a couple of hours before hand, keeps them all on their toes in training.Originally posted by mersey86That's a good point. IF this is true then someone at the club needs to sort him out quickly. It is obvious that the lad has some talent but he has to learn to be professional.Originally posted by puredale

So maybe a quiet word in the ear and an arm round the shoulder from a coach(Ablet) or maybe a swift smack round the ear and an arm round the neck from Carra, one of the 2 ought to do the trick
