    we'll never be another chelsea

It seems to have been touched on in some of the threads that there is a possibility that we could go down the same road as the chavs if this investment happens. Here's my reasons why this will never happen.

    1. We have a vast history of success at national and international level, through all this sucess that club has had the degree of class to ensure that we win with grace - as opposed to those ****s.
    2. We already have a huge national and international fan base - and so shouldn't attract the degree of johnny come latelys found at some clubs.
    3. We have a manager who values the team as much more important than the sum of its parts so we more likely to sign players who fit in with the system than to go for token superstars like Shevchenko and Ballack.
    4. DIC will look for a return from their investment. We will not as such be some gangsters play thing that was bought on a whim and could be sold just as quickly.

Its just a gut feeling but I dont think the soul of this club can be bought.

The thing is that the same could be said of Jose Mourinho, Sheva and to a lesser extent Ballack were bought in because Abramovich wanted them and the same could be true of any new owner of ours.

I like to think that the soul of the club however comes from the fans and that the difference between ourselves and Chelsea is that as you say we already have the fans.

I think Rafa does have definite ideas about who he would like to buy and has only been restrained by our budget. I just hope that any prospective new owners realise the value of patience and allowing the right people to do their job without interference.
No! I am NOT in denial!

Any insinuation of this kind of activity and Benitez will **** off as quickly as you could say "adios". But I would hope that the owners would have a bit more nouse about them than that.

Also, the way I look at it, although investment is something we require to truly put us "back on our ****ing perch", we don't as such need it in the same way Chelsea did. Those *******s owe their very existence, never mind success, to Abramovich and Abramovich alone. He bought them out of certain liquidation and is basically the saviour of the club, if he wants Ballack and Sheva, he gets them. With ourselves, I see this as an oppurtunity to furthur the clubs already glittering heritage and make a push for domination of Europe and I would like to think that the new owners would feel the same way and allow Benitez to let his plans run their course.

Theoretically, yes, but if the reports are to be believed they're letting Parry stay on as Chief Executive. This doesn't really suggest they're planning on running it as their own personal fiefdom.

I hope you are all right.

There is definitely some truth in the idea that Rafa would consider leaving if interfered with and it would be madness for any new owner to listen to SpeedyG and look to oust one of the best managers in the world.

On the other hand they are investing to make money and one route would appear to be the Real Madrid idea of a team as a brand and the use of superstar signings raising the clubs profile for advertising and shirt sales. I know that they also had backing from the government etc. but they did raise their revenue by a ridiculous amout during the galactico era - and without the money coming in from winning anything (although that is the worry with such a system and what we all want to avoid).

Moores won't hand them over the keys unless they think that way I reckon.

If this goes through (and I'm still sceptical it will) then I can see Rafa signing a bunch of quality youngsters like Micah Richards, Giles Barnes and Gareth Bale along with 2 or 3 big money signings like Alves or Villa. Or at least I hope so. I've had enough of mediocre inbetween ***** like the Pennant's and the Diouf's of this world.

The thing is that the majority of the worlds successful clubs are run as a successful business. Chelsea on the other hand are basically just a rich man's hobby. No matter what Kenyon says the sole reason for Abramovich's interest is to stroke his own ego.
