I can maybe understand the left midfield having generally poorer players for England, as there isn't much to go on, but there are a lot of right midfielders that have bags more skill, talent, and determination...

Two or three decent through balls, and of course a good assist for Fowler's second goal. Fair enough.

Aside from those pieces of play (i.e the other 88 minutes) he was poor. His wing play is RUBBISH....which isn't ideal for a winger.

Why, when his left foot is so poor, does he do that crap turn inside (I'm loathe to call it a Cruyff turn) almost every single time?

Totally agree, I lost count of the amount of rubbish misplaced crosses he made last night and over the course of the season - and crossing is supposed to be his main attribute

He gets lost in games too often for my liking. It is not good enough simply to supply one or two decent balls in a game and then to go missing. I also am starting to get irritated with his constant temper tantrums at the ref and at opposition players. He got himself book last night for that and he will continue to do so if he doesn't grow up.

He has bags of potential - you can see it. however, you can also see there is something in his character that suggests their is a huge chance the lad will blow it. I really hope he doesn't because he could be great for us.

Amazing! A balanced viewpoint. Too many people are writing Pennant off. I have a lot more respect for an opinion which can highlight the lad's quality while expressing doubts over its eventual fruition. He's a work in progress - surely we should be getting behind him and giving encouragement - after all we do want to see Liverpool players do well .. don't we? Speedy, you are excused from answering.

I have a lot more respect for an opinion which can highlight the lad's quality while expressing doubts over its eventual fruition. In fairness i dont think anyone could deny the fact that the lad has at least SOME talent. Rafa bought him for a reason, and he was playing some decent stuff for Birmingham last season.

He just hasnt shown anything to excite people yet - a few mazy runs and some are to willing to forget that he really hanst contributed very much to our season. I'd be far more inclined to forgive gonzo who is new to the prem, but jermaine has been here a while and should be doing more.

thata the worrying thing.pennant is premiership ready. Has also been at a biggish club like arsenal. He has undoubted skill but it has to be delivered on a constant level and that is going to require him overcoming his fears. a dont think he has the pysche to make it at the top level

The lad simply doesn't look like he's trying to me. He goes missing for ages and then chases the ball around like a yapping dog to make it look like he is doing something.

A lot of people just have it in for Pennant. I have given up explaining.
Rationality and logic apparently has no place amongst the rants of the Anti-Pennant brigade.
