Pongolle looks like he's had enough of LFC

    Pongolle: I'll stay in Spain

    Dec 6 2006

    Daily Post

STRIKER Florent Sinama-Pongolle insists he has no desire to return to Liverpool once his season-long loan spell at Recreativo Huelva ends in the summer.

Sinama-Pongolle, who has scored five goals for the Spanish La Liga side so far this season, was allowed to leave on loan as strikers Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellamy arrived at Anfield.

And the Frenchman said: "No, I don't see myself at Liverpool next year, it is over.

"I have been important for them, helping them to win cups, scoring in the Champions League and FA Cup.

"But I feel very good in Spain. The league is more technical, less direct, and I have scored five goals."

It will be a shame to see him leave but if we get this investment then we'll hopefully get another striker meaning no room for the likes of Pongolle, unfortunately.

Good luck to the lad though as I like him.

But I thought he was very effective as a sub using his pace. I'll look out for his development if he moves on anyway!

Cant blame him for wanting to move on.

He's getting first team football in La Liga, and scoring goals on a regular basis.

Rafa never gave him a fair chance, he scored some vital goals for us.

        Good luck Pongolle.

I agree with the sentiments expressed. FSP never really stood a chance with Rafa, dont know why perhaps just another one of Houllier's legacies and the boss now wants to develop his own players.

FSP is doing well in Spain finding the net, but then again so is Morientes! These players are not cut out for EPL, and La Liga probably suits them better, more time on the ball etc.

But good luck to the little fella

I think you're wrong there. When he did get the odd run out for us, I thought he showed plenty and scored some very decent goals. Rafa just didn't see him as starting 11 material, but he was good enough to be a frequent starter in a rotating squad.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Yep, was an alright sub at times but always seemed to be pretty ****e when he started. He was also woeful for Blackburn.

Hope he does well for himself out there and gets us some money.

Yeah too right and also I read on NewsNow yesterday that Pongo said Rafa was checking up on his progress everyday via SMS. Might have been tribalfootball, cant remember exactly.

Its like the Barnes quote over the Dubai money. One paper states he welcomes the money whilst another, using the same quotes Digger as saying the fortune is no guarantee of attracting world beaters and "happy days" returning to Anfield.

In my time at Anfield we always said we had the best two teams on Merseyside, Liverpool and Liverpool reserves shanks

I think we have missed his unpredictability this season.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I for one will miss him.

I don't think he ever really got a fair crack of the whip. ALT - yes agree, not good enough and not the right attitude, but Pongolle always looked like he really wanted to make it at Liverpool.

Another player with bags of potential and think if Ged or Rafa had shown more faith him who knows.

I still think he could be a great impact player for us. At the moment our only forward with any real pace is Bellend.

                              I agree with you mate.

What Pongolle offered off the bench would have been of great use to us this season.
