16 points is a hell of a gap, even if we beat the mancs we'll only close it to 13, If Chelsea and Arsenal beat them, we might get it down to about a 7 point gap, but I still think it'd be really hard to catch them, I'll never say never tho.
Newcastle had a donut as a manager whereas the Chavs and United have two of the world's best. They don't lose 16 points leads (soon to be 19 as United are taking City to the cleaners).
In all honesty if we finish no more than 16 points behind the champions by the end of the season I will be absolutely amazed. If anything the gap will widen....just being a realist based on what I've seen this season.
Disagree that the gap will widen, if anything I think it will get smaller.

And if Chelski beat them and they lose to some banana skin team, we'll be right up there methinks. It'll be hard because of our start to the season, but never say never. I would never drop my head in any walk of life even if the chips are down, so would except that from our team. United will go through a difficult patch as i can't see them continue like that till the end of the seaon. We finished the season only one point below them last time, so we can't be 16 points poorer this season ... We'll come back hard on their heels.
