It's not so much that he's considering retirement but that it's 100% certain that Rafa won't give him another contract. It's blindingly obvious that he doesn't merit one. He's yesterday's news. We need a proper top drawer striker to make up our 4.

So it's goodbye Robbie. Don't let the doorknob hit you on the arse on the way out

Dalglish's record is distorted by the fact that in his later years he played a lot deeper - in the hole, as they say - and made innumerable chances for Ian Rush, to the detriment of his own goal-scoring ratio. In his first few seasons he had a fantastic strike rate. He scored on his debut at Middlesbrough (after about 6 minutes or so I seem to recall) and I'm pretty sure he ended up that season with 33 goals in all (a statto can correct me if my memory's playing tricks with me). The following season he got something like 25-27 as I recall. Any modern-day striker would be worth £25m upwards with that record

any modern striker who touched daglish's class would be a world record fee .

Would great to see Robbie get a Backroom job at the end of the season becuase he aint got it on the pitch anymore

****in hell. Alright, he may not be setting the world alight at the moment, and I do agree with you in that carheex is talking absolute ****e, but that is no way to disrespect one of the greatest forwards to ever ply his trade for the club.

I would be surprised if Robbie is not kept on in some capacity, but not as the "best striker at the club"

the bloke would play for nuthin anyway, and doesnt complain about his bench time unlike some of our other strikers.would be mad to let him go - hes still useful even as a back end player/last 20 mins player.weve all seen him come in and shake up a game lately,no denying that.

still god to me-even if only for the ass end of a game.

Let's not get carried away. He was an Evertonian all his life and is a latter-day converted Red. Only someone who's been a fan all his life could one reasonably say his heart bleeds Liverpool. It's a marriage of convenience for Robbie as he has alienated Evertonians everywhere.

I don't see any reason why he would be a good coach. Playing ability doesn't usually translate into coaching ability - the great defender Mark Lawrenson's stint as Newcastle approach is an obvious example

Simple question if money was no object which striker could we buy that was available and would improve the team.

There is a shortage of really world class strikers at the moment

Robbie Fowler has been a red for the vast majority of his life. He grew up, people change as they grow up for whatever reasons. If some kid said he'd vote Tory but then turned into a staunch socialist people wouldn't say he's a bit of a Tory deep down. Because it would be bull****.
