Djimi won us that pen, nobody else!

He definitely had his moments in the game and was much better than he was earlier this season, but I have to say his general play is still very frustrating. At the moment he's giving us one good cross for every five times he loses the ball or can't get his cross in. I know to a certain extent you can forgive that if he comes up with a couple of assists or whatever, but he's never going to produce moments of sheer magic like Garcia for example so he needs to have a bit more consistancy to be a real asset for us.

A lot of the pressure has been lifted off him now with us picking up results both home and away, so hopefully given time he can start to provide a steady rate of good crosses - something I do feel he is capable of.

We still should have trounced Charlton yesterday. As well as we have played, we still gave Charlton the initiative in the middle of the first half and second half. We should still improve our passing as we're losing too many silly balls and we should control away games much better, even then we're improving. We should consistently play at a higher tempo throughout the match as we're still not able to sustain this type of football for long periods.

All in all we're slowly picking our way up but i expect to see us dominate more on our away matches. Manure do it all the time as they play home and away with the same tempo, confidence and hunger. We seem to show these qualities in patches though.

I only managed to see the game on football first last night but a few things caught my eye.

Bellamy's movement was superb. I agree with Ronan in that he's now playing like the player we all knew was.

Gonzalez looked much more at ease with the pace of the game yesterday. I know it was only Charlton but looked more assured.

Kuyt. Not the clinical finisher we thought he was but you know he'll give 100% so we can forgive him.

not going to rate everyone, becuase I thought they were all good. Special mentions for Gonzalez and Pennant, who actually looked decent players yesterday.

But something has to be said about JAR, because he was absolute ****e yesterday. Not sure if he needs a rest or something, because we haven't had the cover available for him, but after having a week off you would think he'd be ready to go. Or maybe he just needs the competition, so I would like to see a decent left back signed sometime soon, to at least give him a challenge.

I actually thought about giving Rafa a 10 for selling Djimi

Of course you're right about Pennant. He has no magic boots like Garcia and I want to underline that it was NOT my idea to buy him. He should display much more consistency and better crosses for 3,6 mill + bonuses! But alas his here and his been ****e almost all season. He needs that 7 more than most of us forums nerds here needs a blowjob.

Do we miss Momo by the way??!

              It's 6.7mil for the 8,000th time.

Good question about Momo. RP and myself discussed the very point after the game. RP made a good point that Momo is a disruptor and would be better suited for the games say against Arse etc whereas SG and Alonso need a bit more freedom to express themselves. Personally I like to keep SG in the middle and with Alonso playing like he did Momo is a bit of a spare part at present. With so many games to come though he will get his chance.

yeah but SG has been v quiet in the last 2 games. Although he's back in the middle he hasn't really been dynamic apart from the wigan game.

He's scored 4 in the last 6. He was much better in the second half against Charlton. I think we just notice him more when he doesn't hit that dynamic level but we look much better at the moment with him in CM.

I'd still bring Momo back and stick 'im out wide again though Al !!

Stevie has to be more disciplined when he plays in the centre that's why he's a bit restrained in that position. He still times his forwards runs and our 3rd goal is the perfect example of that.

Well its the eternal argument. Until we have a dynamic RW you're probably right.

Rafa has definitely curtailed his attacking instinct. TBH I think Stevie is better on the right as Rafa puts far fewer restrictions on him. Let's face it Stevie has never been the type to run a game, he's an impact player. And in this team he is going to be more involved and have more of an impact on the right. Hurry back Momo.

But the 6,7 mill is with all the incentives meet, right? There is a bonus for Birmingham if he gets in the National side as I understand it? A bonus if he plays a certain amount of PL and CL games? Are you saying it was just 6,7 mill straight up?!

I think we are a better team without Momo in the CM. Building a team around Alonso and Gerrard makes much more sense to me.

Without wanting to start an outrage I think that Momo is the most overrated player on these internet foras.

What Gerrard does so much better than Momo, is that he gets into the box. He gets into positions where he can present a goalthreat. Momo doesn't.

I simply can't understand why people can't see this. It's so bleeding obvious! 60 games and zero goals from Momo. Hello?
