We need a left back as i dont think we have a quality one in our entire squad. Perhaps Lucas Neill can play both sides??
Lucas Neill? I thought you said we needed a quality full-back

Aurelio's positioning is not as good but he is technically better. Because of this I think you are always liable to give the odd goal away when Aurelio is playing in defence. I think we should utilise his best attributes by playing him in midfield.

Stick Aurelio on the left and Garcia on the right (Pennant was dreadfull today)
Thats all well and good, but don't we want to see more of Gonzalez, and playing Aurelio there will just hamper his progress

I cant agree with this one. Riise looks terrible at times, but is more solid than any other LB we have at present.

Aurelio is more of a Wing back than a LB. He needs to learn Rafa's defensive techniques. All players, except Agger, Struggle with it initially

I think Gonzalez, Aurelio and Garcia (Home) will rotate on LW

I'm glad to see Aurelio back--another new player who really hasn't had enough of an opportunity to settle in due to injury. He needs games, no question about it.

So far, I would say Riise's the better defender. His positioning isn't stellar, but it's better than Aurelio's. I also don't think Aurelio's gotten used to the physical side of the Premiership just yet. Technically, there's no question that Aurelio's the better player. Better on the ball, better passer, better crosser, and gets some pretty nasty swerve on his free kicks.

Anyway, we'll need both of them, as we're in for a hectic next couple of weeks, with the holiday schedule, followed by the Arsenal FA Cup tie.

Aurelio is not fit to lace Riise's boots at LB. His positional play is very poor to say the least. his performance against Galatasary was as poor as I've seen from a Liverpool defender. going forward he's a much better player & he can fill the LM role if need be, but doesn't look good enough to be 1st choice in that role.

Its early days of course, and he needs time but so far he's been a major disppointment for me.

I think he's been injured too much to make a full assessment.
We all saw the Gala game - and yes he was poor - but there were reasons for that. I think that game has clouded peoples judgement to be honest.

You are right. Riise's performances lately has been worse than Aurelio's not so good defensive performance againts Gala. Of course Aurelio's attacking performance in that match was about five times better than Riise can ever produce.

If we were had a full backs who are more comfortable with the ball and would have a better passing ability, we wouldn't be giving the ball away so ****ing easily.

Hopefully Rafa will give Aurelio a proper chance to show, if he can adapt to English football and stay injury free.

I'm not saying aurelio won't improve defensively, hopefully he will, but he is not near Riise for me, for the LB spot. Its not just the Gala game either, he's been suspect in all the games he's played. He seems to me to be more of a wing back than LB or LM.

I think Riise's worst defensive performances for us this season are better than Aurelio's best. Hopefully once he settles in he can iron out the mistakes and position himself better because he can deliver a damn good cross. Defensively he had a shocker but our first goal against Gala his cross was a thing of beauty.

Rafa made it pretty clear to Warnock that Fabio was not brought into to replace him. He was brought in for LM.

TBH though the way Riise is playing Warnock should be getting a hell of a chance and we should be looking for an upgrade soon.

I'm getting sick and tired of getting cuaght out down the left, Riise being out of position and then diving in (and invariably missing).

I didnt mention Neill as quality but he will be with us in January so you'd best get used to the idea

It's difficult having that balance right (between defending and attacking) and the only player who i think is terrific from a right backs' perspective, i hate to say it, is Gary Neville.
Good grief man. Apart from being one of Harold Shipmans own children, what exactly is he terrific at? I won't come on here and tell you he's truely terrible and absolutely hopeless, cause he's not but terrific? The only thing he's terrific at is shagging his mum and the rest of his scummy, inbred mancuunian (sorry should that be bury) family.

He's at best an average right back like every other fullback in the country with the exception being maybe Ashley Cole on the left. Terrific? Good god I nearly had a heart attack then- get a grip man!

I reiterate, he's a terrific right back man. Name me one better than him (apart from our own Stevie Finnan) playing in this league ?

God damn you Fredo, you've used that word again, I guess as it's Christmas i'll have to casually look over this matter and hold myself back from sending "the boys" round

I'd rate Finnan in the same bracket as Neville mate but i'd put neither in the "terrific" brackett. There's certainly a shortage of good right backs in this country.

                                Merry Christmas anyway mate
