Come on mate grow up. Rooney would never join Liverpool anyway.
He's talking hypothetically mate, saying he'd rather have one class player like Rooney than four average players, he's making a good point imho. OK I wouldn't put Kuyt in the average bracket fair enough, but a class player like Rooney would make a much bigger difference to our team.

As for your team, how about....

    Reina
    Finnan
    Agger
    Carragher
    Riise
    Gerrard
    Sissoko
    Alonso
    Garcia
    Bellamy
    Rooney

Not bad I would say? Yeah you need more players than that, but we'd still have the likes of Kewell, Zenden, Aurelio etc, we'd need more back up yeah and like I said, I'd keep Kuyt, but sometimes you have to risk a bit more to get a class player who will make a big difference.

Yeah, Scholes and Giggs have indeed mate.

But i'd settle for just our strikers scoring lots, maybe (if i'm being greedy), being supported by just one midfielder chipping in with a good tally.

        Give me strength .

We haven't got the money to go out flashing the cash like that. Anyway it's up to our manager who we buy perhaps you think we should sack Rafa and try and bring Fergie or Wenger to Anfield?

But when we're spending £14m on Cisse, £7m on Pennant and £7m on Crouch, it's painful to say the least, because we all know that the combination of all three's contributions doesnt come remotely close to that of Rooney's for the mancs. Or a player of his class.

And Rooney's the top end of the price scale, Ronaldo was £12m, Robben was £12m, Van Persie wasnt far off that either. These are fees we can afford.

Yet, we end up with 3 or 4 £7m turkeys who piddle about for a year or two and then get sold for £2m and £3m....

Sorry mate, but that never has been, and never will be a title-winning (or even challenging) set of ingredients.

How about some realistic suggestions then DJS or are you just another Championship manager fan?

He's making a valid point, and backing it up with solid evidence, something you can't do, clearly.

                Why havent we?

We can spunk £14m on Cisse, £7m on Crouch, £7m on Pennant, £10m on Kuyt, £6m on Bellamy....

That's £54m. I'm not saying none of them are decent, but £54m FFS....

And what have we got to show for it?

As i said, Ronaldo was £12m, as was Robben. Walcott will be superb for Arsenal, full of pace, trickery and a goal threat. He's got that spark. How much did he cost? Wasnt much more than £12m was it?

                We CAN afford them.

Why don't you? Rather than just criticising his posts.

Or do you think we have the right formula and squad to wint he title now?

                    I've provided some examples mate.

Sure, it's easy with hindsight, but then, i'm not a scout or a full-time football manager who is paid millions to go and find these players.

Maybe if i spent my full working life in that environment, flying around the world watching football, i'd be able to find more examples.

£5m down payment rising to £13m on so many appearances, goals, becoming an international, etc etc. Bargain I would say, but like Rafa said, we can't afford that.

I'd happily swap Pennant and Crouch for Walcott.

For ****'s sake Rafa, buy a fecking goalscorer will you?
I just thought that with a statement like this you obviously have someone in mind.

Surely you're not expecting Rafa to buy Rooney Saha or Ronaldo.
You do realise that that could never happen don't you?

I didn't come out with the statement:

by making that statement, the onus is on DJS to give us an example.

Anyway, are you looking for an argument again because if you are you better look elsewhere because I'm not interested.

That's it isnt it? We can afford it. But we prefer to make one week's shopping budget cover an entire month.

Ronaldo and Saha are obviosuly worth more now than what they paid for them, and of course they wouldn't come to us, he's not suggesting that.

Wlacott has hardly scored a load of goals this season, not enough to call him a goal scorer.
