He certainly is not that good, i haven't disguised that fact at all, just pointing out that he has qualities that needs to be exploited, such as great crossing and short passing skills.

He doesnt seem to have the mentality though, no belief, no confidence, and little evidence of much pace, either.Originally posted by fredo View PostHe certainly is not that good, i haven't disguised that fact at all, just pointing out that he has qualities that needs to be exploited, such as great crossing and short passing skills.
No crossing ability or passing skills can help, if the lad's head isnt right.

Yes, even Arsenal waste money.
I wouldnt mind the wasting of money if, somewhere along the line, we'd brought in the players who'd won us two doubles (as well as got us challenging for the title every season) in the last 10 years...

Arsenal has a different policy. They just go out and buy the best young talent there is around and try to develop them afterwards. They are investing in potential and rely on their scouting network to 'spot' a talent, much like Rafa's scouts.Originally posted by DJS View PostDo you count Arsenal in that, Kaip?
The difference is (as Rafa pointed out in one of his recent pre match post conferences), they can afford to put more money. Walcott should have been ours if we decided to go for that extra 3 or 4 million pounds. That could well be true for many of Arsenal's bright youngsters, as we surely were after most of them.

Hmm maybe.Originally posted by DJS View PostYou're using that as a method to justify not trying it.
I'm using 17 years without a title and a 16 point gap as a suggestion of why we should try it.
Actually what I'm saying is that it's a ****ing boring discussion, full of imponderables and half-arsed opinions from people who are often no doubt good and well-meaning but who sadly know little or nothing about professional football or running a club or managing a squad...
I include myself obviously and there may be the odd exception to the rule who contributes to this forum.
I'll try to leave you all to get on with it. No offence meant.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

What's you're point? They weren't a waste of money because the rest of the team was successsful?Originally posted by DJS View Post

That's nonsense, if you're disputing that these 3 were a waste of money then you've lost it.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

Not disputing the wasting money thing, of course every club does. As i said before though, i could swallow it easier if they'd also won 2 doubles and challenged for the title every year along the way.Originally posted by Kaip View PostYep.............does franny jeffers ring a bell
However, my question was more to do with you saying some clubs can afford to waste it more than others.
Can Arsenal 'afford' to waste money any more than we can?

No, i'm saying that despite wasting money, they were still able to buy brilliant players who brought them lots of success.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostWhat's you're point? They weren't a waste of money because the rest of the team was successsful?

We only manage the first half of that.
