Rafa deserves his bit of stick for that because he is the one who thinks that Crouch is good in the air. He is better on the floor than in the air so it's stupid to hoof them up time after time to Crouch.
He has an OK touch but in the grand scheme of Premiership/world strikers he aint special, Its not as if he can use his touch to get past a player, like what Torres did in his short cameo.
    We come not to play.

Players like Crouch need to start staking their claims for a starting place when they play, and he just simply didn't do that today. He looked rusty and off the pace.

In any case, I've never thought Crouch had the movement and speed to be our best option away from home, and I think it showed again today.

You can't expect crouch to be match sharp when isn't getting matches. Too many fans, not the educated ones I might add, are giving him a really hard time at the moment. Rafa is surely to blame - he was dropped, for no apparent reason, when he was on a really hot scoring streak for both club & country. That must destroy your confidence and generally confuse you (especially playing 2nd fiddle to the likes of heskey!!).

He's always being told he's part of Rafa's plans yet he'll only field him against weaker opposition. It's not Crouch's fault that his team mates hoof it up to him - they should know he isn't strong in the air. With the ball at his feet (when he's match sharp) he's a formidable striker.

        i feel for him

he has NEVER let us down he is a nice bloke - met him few times
but it must seem his life is fallin apart

        no longer first choice

and his bird is gonna end up in my bed pretty soon

I'm not so sure. When Crouch is on top of his game, he's every bit as good as Kuyt and Voronin.

Crouch has a good touch but he is to slow to get any good use of it and that is a problem.

I know that he can't be match fit and that will also be a problem because he will only start every third, fourth or fifth game and that will be a problem the whole season for him.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

We play nice football in the first few games and then revert to football that Lawrie Sanchez would be proud of.That's what pisses me off most.
Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful

I'm not averse to selling him per se, but only as long as we can get someone in better to replace him.

The fact Pompey played liked the away team didn't help, but guile, ingenuity, style was missing throughout the team today.

If Kuyt had more goals in his game we would all be raving about him.

I agree. He isn't an option that makes the team better anymore and he isn't even a good option off the bench.

We have other players that should start before him every week, Torres, Kuyt, Voronin and Babel.

I like him but the team always comes first.

In world football there are many strikers better, an exchange with Martins at Newcastle or Berbatov at Spurs (to name two in the Premiership)

                              Elmander?
                              Huntelaar?
