He was generally quite average as a footballer.

He did manage a couple of half seasons where he looked awesome, both cut short by injury. But when you consider his time here, he was never really one of our better midfielders. Its a shame really, as he lost a bit of pace, and seemed to give the ball away too often for my tastes. I think the problem was nobody knew where his best position was, as he was bought as an box to box attacker, and didnt really get to play that way.

He always gave 100% and never complained, and came across as really likable. I wonder if he has interest in coaching. Considering the number of south american players coming through, he might be the man to convince younger players to move to Liverpool.
