He was the best striker in the world during his time with us. I'm not sure what has happened to him since, but I'm not sure I'd take him back now, not because of the way he left or anything, but because of his form since leaving.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Torres was the best striker in the world between 2007-09. I think most neutral fans would agree with that too.

      Yup.

You'd think we would have won something with the best striker in the world.

Drogba's another that was a better player at that time.

BBB, you sound like a bit of a bitter ****er. Did you actually rate him when he was scoring outstanding goals week after week for us, or were you just waiting for him to get past his peak so you could say "Told you he was ****e"?

If that's your reasoning then you're not worth the time to respond to. That sort of quote is up there with people who say that Messi won't be great until he's won a WC and all that bollocks.

              Waste of time.

Rated him as a great player yes.

Best in the world? Not a chance. The best forwards in the world, top score in their league & take their sides to titles. Like Drogba done at Chelsea & Ronaldo at the mancs.

Torres never was top scorer in England, surely the best striker in the league should be doing that once if he was at the very top of the game for three years.

You reasoning is too simplistic though.

If you're going to through those kind of quotes about, how about the quickest foreigner to reach 50 Premier League goals, the highest scoring foreign debutant in PL history, beating Ruud van Nistelrooy's records in both.

You're missing off his injury problems, and our over reliance on him. When he was out, we never had an adequate replacement, or did you forget all that.

I see your point about the best in the world, but opinions are subjective. I doubt any of those you listed would have scored more than Torres in our team in that period. Especially not Zlatan, you're having a ****ing laugh there!

i'll tell u something. 90% lfc fans still loves him, but they won't admit it.

I'd have him back in a heartbeat, if the price was right.

If we had the Torres of old with us this season, we'd be in the top 2 right now.

Think how many chances we have missed.
                          Oh I don't know.

Aside from the rest of the debate, I'm not sure why this is seen as a defence. Taking freekicks and penalties isn't the easy option to be a top scorer. It means that Ronaldo had more to his game particularly in relation to freekicks.

its not easy to score from free kicks and penalties, takes technique and bottle, also you've got to be best at taking them in your team
                                RIP IRWT post/rant, best ever
