Yeahh!! A non goalscoring striker is exactly what we need. When will some people realise he isnt just in a bad patch?!

That equates to 4 players in Every Prem side scoring more goals than Torres, who is the most expensive 'goal scorer' in the Premierships history.

obviously i realise its not 4 in every side, 1 in some, 5 in another, etc. just using 4 as an average.

                From Talk****e...made me chuckle...

I'm going out tonight dressed as Fernando Torres. I'm not planning to score.

Ceasefire in Libya, specialist Fernando Torres sent in to make sure no more shots are fired.

Torres has quashed reports that Stamford Bridge is haunted by saying: "I can't find any ghouls."

Torres' mum sends him to a careers adviser. All goes well until he asks: "What are your goals?"

Fernando Torres walks into a bar and says: "I'll have a couple of shots please." The barman says: "That's not like you."

Fernando Torres turned down a presenting job on Mastermind when he realised the catchphrase is "I've started but can't finish."

Torres and Gomes would make awful fishermen. Torres can't get anything in the net and Gomes struggles to catch stuff.

Torres recently lost his telesales job as he kept missing his targets.

Torres had a summer job on a very specialised fruit and veg stall. He was fired because he couldn't find the onion bag.

Spain have told him to **** off.

La lista de 24 es la siguiente: Casillas, Valdés, Reina, Iraola, Arbeloa, Ramos, Piqué, Puyol, Javi Alba, Monreal, Javi Martínez, Xabi Alonso, Xavi, Iniesta, Fábregas, Thiago, Cazorla, Navas, Muniain, Mata, Silva, Soldado, Negredo y Llorente.

I still find it hard to believe he is the same player we had.

I think it was only a matter of time for him. He kind of didn't fit in there before even.
                          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has been left out of Spain's squad for their friendly international against Venezuela in Malaga on Wednesday.

Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque stressed there could still be changes to the squad before this summer's European Championship in Ukraine and Poland.

But said he wanted to reward players who had been performing well.

Del Bosque said: "He is a lad we appreciate a lot and it pains me to leave him out but I wanted to be fair."

The Spain boss had said in December that Torres needed to turn his season around to ensure selection for Euro 2012.

The 27-year-old has scored just four goals in 29 Chelsea appearances this season.

Yeah he's never really looked right for them, he's had some good games, the Euro final, 2006 World Cup etc but he's always looked a bit out of place to me. His record for them isnt particularly impressive either and most of his goals have been against absolute ****e like San Marino, Liechtenstein, Azerbaijan, China, Latvia etc.

Good move by Del Bosque, would have been easy to include him especially with Villa still being out.

That's a good point. I was over in Spain around the time of the World Cup final (on the day in fact) and spoke to loads of locals about him. At the time he was struggling a bit but his form between 07-09 was still fresh in the memory and I still regarded him as the best no.9 in the world.

But he never really fitted in. He thrives on a direct, fast, vertical game (not long ball, big difference)...which is what he got with us, with Stevie providing through balls etc.

Spain's slower, horizontal tika-taka never suited him but they had to include him as he was the best striker in the world. But I was fascinated talking to loads of Spanish folk none of whom wanted him in the team because he simply didn't fit.

So if they were of that opinion when he was the best no.9 around, he's got no chance now.
