rodgers is badly exposed at the moment. we dont have anyone who can shield questions relating to player purchases etc... because he doesnt want to work with a sporting director and we dont have one anyway.

but now he's handled the carroll and the agger situations very badly. Its alright being at swansea and reading saying you dont want x player but coming to liverpool and saying you dont want carroll who just happens to be britains most expensive player.

he had made some bad calls but the fact that we dont have anyone senior to handle these questions just makes things worse.

Someone more senior than the manager? He's the manager how much more senior do you want it? Is Ferguson exposed? Is Wenger? This is just the norm in this country. I don't see how he's any more exposed than any other manager

the fact that he insists on coaching naked doesn't help.

Don't think he's anymore exposed, but he's maybe more inexperienced at handling the media from the perspective of being at a big club, where everything you say is relayed world wide and picked over, logged, and kept in readiness for the time you contradict yourself, and then the press and fans can pull you up about it saying.....'but but..you said this last week!'

edit: and of course the naked thing doesn't help none.

this is why he's badly exposed.

he can say whatever he wants in swansea press conferences because frankly not many people care. Every single word he says as liverpool manager will be scrutinised and analysed by all the major newspapers, websites, sports channels and the fans.

You cant win if you say something you cant win if you dont. So i do think that we have left him a bit isolated.

Depends on whether the press want to trip him up. They do some managers and don't others.

Rodgers might become like Redknapp and Hodgson where their openess with the press is rewarded with friendlier copy.

Hes not stupid. Obviously there is an Agenda. If someone wants to come in for Andy Carroll and they offer the right money than, if its the right somebody than hes off. I have no problems with that. I do not subscribe to this owww poor little fooball player ... needs to be all loved etc ... **** off, strap your boots up and get out there and score ****ing goals. If Andy Carroll is still here once the transfer window is closed, I am pretty sure he will have the full support of both the Manager and the club and in return he will be expected to give his 100%, if not then so be it.

Yeah too right, Aquilani should have done the same while he was here.

Interesting to note Rodgers uses zonal marking. Early days I know but not a peep of criticism about that. Interesting. Also interesting to note he doesn't seem to celebrate goals - instead he prefers to keep his focus and make some notes. I await the media's full fury about that too.

Think I'll be waiting a while.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Yeah, I had noticed that...wondering what Stevie would have made of that...Rafa all over again!

Benitez said himself recently that he's pleased to see how zonal marking has become accepted, especially by the media. So that might be part of the reason.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
