We need players that can naturally mould into the team and the Liverpool way of life and understand what it is to play for us.
The following have

Skrtel
Agger
Carragher
Wisdom
Robinson
Johnson
Gerrard
Shelvey
Lucas
Suso
Allen
Sterling
Suarez
The rest need to understand what it is and what it means, not what it takes to play for this football club and this is why I'd **** them off.
There are even some locals that I mean in this message. This is what we should get across to the players, not how you play but what the club means to others and not themselves.
If you are willing to put the effort in to show what the club means to you and that you're willing to do for it whether that's on the pitch or whether you're having your picture taken in Liverpool One or at the Odeon IMAX.
That's all that matters, that's all we want to see.
The only thing that post is missing is a "just two things" to start proceedings. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Bought for £1.5m as a backup option because we were absolutely skint. Sold for £4m, scored a few goals in his time here.Originally posted by clanhuman View PostI think Borini will be a good signing. I don't see him in the same mould as say David N'Gog. He was the true meaning of a dud. Quite frankly it was amazing how long N'Gog acted as a backup striker for us.
However, Borini has shown intelligence and hard work in his play, something Dirk Kuyt has made a career out of. His movement and hard work have caused problems for opposition defence . I think he will be a very useful backup striker to call on while he is young and I believe he will be improving steadily enough every year to challenge for the first team .
Of course, its a bit of an early summary but so far I've been impressed by his application.
Good signing IMO.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I think there are only a few players who deserve ****ing off and no need to mention who they are again, but I think its more down to there lack of talent than anything else*

Edit: I actually thought it was a bit unfair expecting him to deputise for Torres as the lone striker as it just didn’t suit him. I think if he was slowly integrated into the team with a partner up top taking some of the pressure off him (he had a cracking game playing alongside Kuyt against Wigan) then he might have developed better than he did. He did have plenty of potential, just a shame it didn’t work out for him.Originally posted by RedReet View PostBought for £1.5m as a backup option because we were absolutely skint. If we go into next season with this squad, plus a top striker, backup for Lucas and possibly a quality defender, I think we stand a good chance of top four. It's incredibly frustrating to have Cole and Downing sat on the sidelines draining our resources.Last edited by The_weatherman; 24-10-12, 09:40 AM.* The above is posted in my opinion. I liked N'Gog, thought he was in for a good season for us when he scored that belter against Arsenal on the opening day of the season a couple of years back.
Back to Rodgers, I really like him, we're playing some nice stuff and the results are starting to come. We're only 5 points off the bitters in 4th which considering the poor start we've had, is nothing.
EDIT: Actually, make that 6 points, but still...it's not THAT massive a gap considering everyone's been praising the bitters start to the season.

I think Rodgers has the basis for a good team, there are problems but if he gets two or three seasons and backing next summer I think we could be on to something here.

Who would be good enough that they would provide adequate cover for Lucas and be preferred over either Gerrard, Shelvey, Sahin or Allen (possibly include Suso)? We were linked with that Wigan boy for free in the summer, but even though he might be a better DM than those mentioned, would anyone have him starting ahead of them? If a decent player was available (like De Jong was), could we convince them to join knowing that they will be playing second fiddle to Lucas and probably couldn’t oust the preferred players in the attacking role either?Originally posted by The_weatherman View Post

There is always some one, I didn't have a clue who Cabaye was until he joined Newcastle, sure we can find someone decent. That backup player would have played plenty by now. Don't think Sahin will be here next season and Gerrard will be a year older.Originally posted by RedReet View PostWho would be good enough that they would provide adequate cover for Lucas and be preferred over either Gerrard, Shelvey, Sahin or Allen (possibly include Suso)? I suppose, guess I was actually thinking about come January.
If there was a good experienced DM, who wouldn’t expect to play every week, then they’d be perfect. Someone who could be brought in every now and again to give Lucas a rest or who be happy coming on for 20 mins to tighten games up for us. Even if Lucas wasn’t available for much of the season the new signing could still be used sparingly, picked for tough away games or big games when our midfield would be under pressure. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Yeah I guess we could use with someone like that in january, and a striker but I'm not holding my breath tbh.Originally posted by RedReet View PostI suppose, guess I was actually thinking about come January.

No, it is vital that we reach a judgement as quickly as possible. There can be no grey areas. We should definitely learn no lessons from our experience with Lucas and Kuyt.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostBorini is still a kid, too soon to say he'll be a dud surely ?
I know people can make judgements and are entitled to, but a bit too early imo to make a considered opinion.
He could end up being a good servant to the club, maybe not our star name going forward, but did anyone expect him to be ?"The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Didn't he kind of hit the ground running? I think Kuyt frustrated at times but the general consensus was positive for him.Originally posted by dww View PostNo, it is vital that we reach a judgement as quickly as possible.
