Did we make a profit on Ngog?
    Here states £2.5m profit:

        re; n'gog...
i always thought he could be better than he actually was
just reading on wiki; Manager Rafael Benítez hailed his scouting network after his signing, saying that "They are finding players like N'Gog, players with quality who are not a high price".
this is about a lad who had scored 1 in 18 games for PSG

Yeah i thought he might do bit better when he went to Bolton but sure kind of faded into obscurity. Rafa had a mixed bag as regards signings that's for sure. As lads said at least we made a profit but
would have preferred a better quality player in the side at the time which would have benefitted us much more than an extra 2.5 million profit. IMO making that small profit is scant conciliation, when we could have had
a better quality player instead of Ngog... that could have made the difference Ngog couldn't.

I think Ngog was bought primarily because Rafa couldn't afford more. Rafa took a punt for 1 million on player to increase the squad depth, find it hard to criticise him for that.
          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

it was true then, and still true now
there might be some bargains to be had, but we need some quality too. to have had ngog as back up to torres was crazy.
profit from selling on a dud really is no biggy in the grand scheme of things. we need goal, better league finishes and ultimately premiership titles. we shouldnt be leaving ourselves in a position of having to play catch up...

            january window will be interesting

I'm not sure Borini is what we need but it's way too early to even contemplate that thought.

Very unlucky with injuries so far and Rodgers didn't do him any favors (subbed him early in the second half in most of games since Cityh match) but I like his movement in and around the box.

Needs few goals and could come good but either way he needs some time before we can form any proper judgements if he is a right fit for us or not.

January window is an interesting one, we will see if FSG actually give Rogers a few bob to address the glaring issues.

Am I the only one who thinks Borini will go on to be a great player for us?

Aye, unlike Robbie Keane who aside from Carroll and Downing must be our worst signing ever. He was ****ing awful.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Yet both scored crackers against Arsenal to give us false hope.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Didn't Keane scored 3 in 2 games and then was dropped?

Had forgotten about that. 2 against Bolton the next week and then dropped for Newcastle (although we did still win 5-1).

Ngog can't get in the Bolton team.
