Initially he did really well, then had a bit of bad run of form/turned out not to be the new Ian Rush and was widely slated for ages. It was the second part of this I was thinking of. If you look back to threads after about 6 months into his stay there is some real vitriol sent his way on here.

His form dipped badly during and after his Da's death.

For every Lucas.. there has been a Dossena,Babel, Degen,Jovanovic,Nunez, El Zhar, Konchesky, Poulsen, Itanje, Leto, Aquilani, Josemi, Cavalieri, Zende, Barragan, Carroll,Downing, Gonzalez, Kewell, Cole etc and to a lesser extent some others i.e. Henderson,Adam,Reira.

So some early judgements have been spot on & cutting loose of some players early on that are giving nothing to LFC except draining the wage bill, can save millions in wages! This in turn can be used to bring in a better calibre of player and be productive for the team. Sometimes waiting, hoping & holding onto a certain player and giving him time is just as risky as letting a young or underperforming player leave. Some players are simply just bad signings. I suppose you have to trust the manager with that judgement.

I'm not writing off Borini and it's very early to judge but he has looked panicked, technically inept and a bit of a headless chicken. In saying that he has good energy and makes good runs which often haven't been spotted. He will be given time and rightly so. But for the moment there are better players ahead of him in the starting line up IMO.

That's what i have liked about Rogers since he has come in to LFC, he has clearly already looked at the performance of our players and in training during the summer... and has tried to clean house by shifting the dead wood/under performing players/wage drains. And no doubts Downing,Cole and Henderson would have clearly gone if Rogers has had his way. IMO he is making and has tried to make all the right moves and has come in at a very difficult and stagnated time at LFC. LFC have needed a ruthless streak for quite some time now & IMO Rogers seems to have that... no messing around you're not good enough you can leave kind of thing. Long overdue!!

Regards Kuyt, great servant for LFC but right time to go and was faltering for awhile... cult hero and great signing overall by Rafa. And i didn't mind Ngog even though he was never going to be a world beater, thought he was fed to the lions a bit having to deputise up top on his own for Torres. He did his best, got few goals and we did ok with his transfer price. IMO definitely not a failure of a signing.

Does anyone wish we still had N'gog? I don't.
            Oh I don't know.

                Nope.

He was promising but he was rushed into the team and shouldn't have had the burden of being back-up to Torres at such a young age.

I think N'gog was a decent but he never quite kicked on, and four goals in about 40 games for Bolton has made a cunt of me when I predicted he'd get 12-15 in the PL last season.

I liked Ngog as a backup to Torres who worked well in the system we played then, but ultimately he wasn't good enough in his own right and we now play a different system.

I was never convinced. And I was proved right. A rarity indeed.

He is a good athlete with decent skill but unfortunately can't kick a ball very well.

Promised very much; delivered very little.

Me neither. He was very very average at best.

if borini does well then we will all be happy, if he isnt cutting it lets hope uncle Buck has enough ruthlessness to cut him loose.

                            re; n'gog...
i always thought he could be better than he actually was
just reading on wiki; Manager Rafael Benítez hailed his scouting network after his signing, saying that "They are finding players like N'Gog, players with quality who are not a high price".
this is about a lad who had scored 1 in 18 games for PSG
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I think he was more about what he bought to the team in general. For a million I think he was a decent player. He's also shown for the French U21s that he can do more in the right environment.

Rafa dropped a few clangers in his time here.

Did we make a profit on Ngog?
