Off topic but I can never let this myth slide.

We did not collapse, and after Rafa "mouthed off", it was absolutely backed up by results. This was our record post "rant"

    Some 'collapse'.

2.28 points per game - our points per game pre "rant" was 2.25.

The results were excellent - how we'd kill for a collapse like that now. Our problem was United's results were just fractionally more excellent.

    So there we have it.

    Anyway, back to Rodgers.

I think that's why I am still feeling very positive towards Rodgers. What's happening is exactly what I was afraid we'd see when the window shut and we hadn't signed an attacker or two on deadline day. The team is starting to click in terms of the style of play he wants, and I enjoy watching it, but we are pathetically toothless in attack and it puts us under pressure defensively because we give teams hope with every great opportunity we squander. Yet again on Saturday if we'd taken just one of our 5 or 6 chances in the first 20 mins their heads would have dropped and it would have been a different game. Instead of which they get a goal from nowhere and have something to fight for.

We don't need world-beaters either, just solid attacking players who know where the goal is. It's embarrassing how inept we are around the box.

Winds me up that does, how we supposedly collapsed.

Look at them stats. 41 points from eighteen games with 42 goals scored.

I think we need more than that personally

I think the midfield is a joke at the minute, Lucas coming back has done little or nothing to settle my nerves in regards to that

                The biter bit.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Sorry, I wasn't sure what you were on about. We didn't lose the game afterwards, we drew 0-0 at Stoke. So that threw me.

We lost the game afterwards which is why the press went to town (although that also confirmed their pre-game abuse) and the perception formed in people's minds. But I read on here that we had a higher points per game ration afterwards than before. Perhaps that's wrong - by all means put me right if you know better.

We didn't even lose did we? I thought it was a 0-0 with Stoke?

                      Edit: Too slow.

F*ck, so even I'm falling for the myth.

                        Anyway I was only kidding.

                        And Rafa out.

I thought against Southampton you could see how the three were meant to work and complement each other, and it worked well (I know it's only Southampton though...). On Saturday Allen and Gerrard were both awful for large parts of the game, so it's difficult to know whether it's the system or personnel from that one game.

The problem up front is that Sterling, as good a prospect as he is, doesn't provide a goal threat at the moment, and might not for a while given his age and inexperience at this level. Shelvey just looked lost on Saturday, and the biggest goal threat we've had recently in the wide attacking positions has been Enrique, which says it all about the attacking quality of our squad. Put Walcott and Sturridge in there and we improve enormously, even though I hope we can do better.
