I'm not disagreeing about Skrtel, last season possibly upped his stock but Agger is a fantastic defender. If you can't see that then you're as blinkered as you're implying everyone else is.

We've seen the best of Agger, several seasons ago, why continue paying him top whack? Skrtel really is average at best. OK to have as a back up, but he should be nowhere near the starting 11 if we're to progress.

The back four needs refreshing, I'd sell the pair of them.

We need to improve throughout this side to move forward and players like Agger, and dare I say it, Gerrard, will not improve and are not at their peak, the only way for them is down. Whilst theres a decent argument for keeping Gerrard, I don't think the same can be said for the likes of Agger.

We've seen the best of him this (and last) season because he's finally been able to manage his injuries properly and Rodgers has certainly helped that.

Agger is in his peak now and will be there for the next 2-3 years.

Agger is at least on a par with the Kompany's of this world. He's head and shoulders above Vidic, Ferdinand, Terry and Cahill... Skrtel is bang average.

So if you're saying there are a number of CBs in the EPL that are better than Agger - who are they?

I think Agger has been decent for us this year. Certainly more consistent than most PLs in the Prem.

Sigurdsson or Britton?

Cos as much as I rated/wanted Sigurdsson, he's done **** all at Spurs, and many Swansea fans seem to think Britton has been much less effective overall without Allen. Britton was a fixture last season (played 35 league games) and has already been left out five or six times this season. He's also 30.

Britton mate. Yes he is getting on but at least VR would have had his man here at the start of his LFC career. The lad looks a class above Allen on every level IMO.

Disagree mate. I like him - don't get me wrong - but they're very similar in what they do: keep it ticking over, continuity types, knitting things together, able to retain possession in tight spaces etc. Thing is Allen will improve.

Thats not my job is it? Hummels, Badstuber are both younger and on the way up, and I'd say Kompany and Vidic are both actually better defenders.

If we're now a side that needs to balance its books, we need to be more ruthless, and players who are still commanding a top price but not playing at their peak need to be moved on with someone hungrier and on the way up coming in. I knew this would'nt be popular, but imo its what needs to be done.
