imagine if we had got him - would probably made £20m Downing look like a steal!!!

Brendan wanted Clint Dempsey as well - and was willing to swap Henderson for him!!! How good would that have been!!!

In my view, Brendan now needs to remember what got him the Liverpool job and get back to those principles immediately - or he will lose his job.

Do you know what the thing is as well though? If Rodgers does lose his job and someone else comes in - no matter who they are (within reason - we're not talking Hodgson here!) they will be able to show pretty much instant improvement in the team.

Rodgers just needs to either drop Gerrard or push him to #10, play Lucas protecting the defense - with Henderson and either Allen or Can next to him - and we have a mobile, hard working unit very quickly.

If Brendan can't see that SG is a defensive midfielder, that Glen Johnson isn't any longer a reliable footballer (probably more concerned with not getting injured and fecking up his bosman pension move) and that one of Lovren and Skrtel need to be dropped in order to have a leader at the back (Kolo) then there is no helping him.

If he makes these changes then he is essentially admitting that the summer transfers were a ****in car crash and he will be judged at the end of the season. If he doesnt make these changes though, then he could be judged a lot sooner than that.....

        Need more than that Brendan.

so he is basically saying "we'll keep plugging away"

definition of insanity is keep making the same **** up and expecting different results..... he needs to get the best TEAM out onto the pitch. Gerrard is an infinately better footballer than Lucas - but he is a worse defensive midfielder....

          **** sake

                Siege mentality.

He's under immense pressure at the moment so the natural thing to do is to pick what he considers to be his senior players and hope they rescue him.

If he chops and changes the team and they still lose he's probably afraid of losing the dressing room.

His quotes today indicate he doesnt even realise what the issues are.

I well remember last season and most of the pundits praising his flexibility in the formations he used (even changing the formation during games).

                    So why has he changed?

Success can change people I guess. Also having a squad becomes a test too. Can you rotate effectively? He had a great season last season. Probably thinks he can do anything. Good to be confident. But I dont get why he has decided to change the way we play. Strange

I'm not quite sure what else Rodgers can say? He can't single players out as he can't alienate the squad. He can't say he's not got a scooby what to do as then he looks clueless. The only thing he can do is acknowledge we have an issue and just parp some standard footballing terminology as he gets bombarded for a quote from the media. If he's quiet, he'd be in the wrong, at the moment the guy can't win; He's getting pelters in the media and then some from our own fans.

Not sure Mudds. But Id expect him to say more than honesty and committment getting us results when our performances are littered with errors. Maybe something like 'if we can cut out the basic mistakes, the results will improve'
