I'm not going to have a go at Ngog,

I didn't mind him....he was signed for buttons from the middle of nowhere, came in as a young lad to give us a bit of cover at a time when we were broke and he scored a couple important goals.

His major downfall was, as you'd expect for a 'nothing' signing, he wasn't much more than average at best and unfortunately got launched into the deep end as we used to play one up top at the time, and Torres was arguably on form the best in the world and sorted this role, probably the only other player around at the time capable of playing on his own in that role was Drogba.....and then Torres gets injured a lot and everything was put on ngogs shoulders.

He was nowhere near our worst player, I'd never criticise him, and regardless if he gets in the Bolton side or not. With our current squad of one recognised striker, I'd dare say Ngog would prob get a couple games with us at the moment

I think there's a bit of the Downing mentality in N'gog.

Looked like he had the tools to make it - terrific pace, decent first touch at times, and a good eye for finding corners of the goal. He just lacked belief in himself. I thought at one time he could have turned into a but of a mini-Trézéguet.

Downing suffers from the same thing - he is a *decent* footballer just lacks belief and bottle.

            Anyway thread is about Rodgers

I still don't know yet. Really don't know,..we have become such a soap opera that it could quite easily blow up in our faces and we become a laughing stock once more, or he could go on to become our greatest ever manager

Can't really have too may negatives with him...he got screwed in the transfer market....we have no money and we had too many passengers in the squad that needed to be cut off the wage bill. Arguably we still do with cole, downing still here.

I do like the way he has a philosophy. An idea of how he wants us to play and we are slowly seeing those ideas coming through...certainly when we have played the youth in the odd cup games it is very clear they are adapting to it.

Borini I'm pretty meh about.....but this is our major problem and has been now for a number of years...money! So I can't have a go at Rodgers too much there because £7m prob doesn't buy you much more (waits for someone to say Dempsey )

We sign borini for what £7m. It's not much these days....but because of situation £7m signings need to be first team quality and hit the ground running....the likes of spurs, city, united, Chelsea can make £7m squad signings and nobody bats an eye lid at them.

Rodgers needs time and the chance to actually sign two or three top players and given the chance to bed them in.

For me, he needs something like, being able to sign two good players in January to bolster the squad...and then sign another two good players in the summer, with no major player losses, and then give next season to see how it all comes together and adapts....then at the end of those two seasons, see where we are and where we are going.

Sadly tho I don't we will give either the time or the money to do this

We need either a miracle or a mmulti-billionaire

Nope, Borini will be great. His movement as a striker is excellent.

He won't be great if he's stuck in the wide position (left or right). And he also won't be great if his finishing doesn't improve.

                            re; n'gog...
i always thought he could be better than he actually was
just reading on wiki; Manager Rafael Benítez hailed his scouting network after his signing, saying that "They are finding players like N'Gog, players with quality who are not a high price".
this is about a lad who had scored 1 in 18 games for PSG
That was at the age of 17 you harsh ****er

He was one of the most highly rated strikers in Europe but PSG treated him like ****e I think. He was played as a right winger by PSG and he would have cost us a hell of lot more had he not not had less than a year on his contract left. The signing was a no brainer.

We made a profit on Ngog. Thats all that matters.

He did and he's been one of their best players since he made the move.

Would like to see Bolton promoted and Jay staying there permanently.

Good team for his level of skills.
