'Lads, gather round. I've written the name of three of youse in these envelopes - the three that I think will let us down this season.
You can only trust three things in life lads.
(thumb) yer family - they keep you strong
(forefinger) yer team mates - together we can accomplish anything
(index finger) and yer supporters'.
the players held their own envelopes and said that they had the names of the coaches that would let them down this season.
hope mine wasnt on one of them.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

unfortunately mate wearing a prada pure merino coat with cashmere and silk isnt the acceptable attire for sunday morning mud fights with little ones.Originally posted by Buzzo View Post
That would be ****ing EPIC to shout something like that at an under XI's footy match (only if wearing obligatory Mourinho kit).
But of course ive got one.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

nope never and we tell parents off for doing so. Every single pass is into feet and we dont play long balls.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostEl Mat - do you tell the kids to "put their foot through it" and not to "mess around with the ball there, kick it up the field!"
as coaches the worst thing you can do is over coach. Teach them football basics, patterns of play etc... in training and then let them play the game for themselves.
thats how they learn - by solving problems themselves.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

we ban our parents from shouting any instructions onto the pitch. I tell the parents that if the kid can hear them, he cant hear us.Originally posted by Tee View Post"Get rid of it!!" I hate it when I hear that from the demented parents and coaches on the touchlines. Winds me right up.
The other thing is that kids need to play without fear. Its supposed to be fun but i can tell you when we got battered by that team i didnt sleep properly for a week.
But we never ever told off the kids for any individual mistakes etc... its not our way. You get thirty year olds mis controlling a pass in 5 a side or missing open goals in sunday league.
So how can you expect ten and 11 year olds to get it right every time.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

I think a lot of people can see the weaknesses in the team, only time will tell if Rodgers is the man to move us forward.Originally posted by clanhuman View PostI think we should be pleased we finally have a manager who is starting to identify the weaknesses in our team. I don't think its a matter of the system but a matter of the personel and the manager sees that too. It's a prediction thread on a wish list.

Rafa used attacking full-backs too. In fact, he was probably counting on it when it was alleged he wanted to use Degen and Dossena as wing backs with Kuyt and Barry just ahead in a Christmas tree formation. He didn't shy away from asking Aurelio and Arbeloa to push up either, same with Insua. We dealt with it by how we were organised defensively.Originally posted by el matador View PostIf you look at mourinho he plays the 4231 against barca and they've had some success with it over the last 18 months or so and yet he was a staunch 433 man at chelsea.
Rafa in his book constantly highlights attacking fullbacks as a weakness which can be exploited. Im not convinced by the 433 because one ball played over the top will start the alarm bells and which premiership team doesnt have at least a couple of speed merchants.
Andre Villas Boas' 4-3-3 at Porto was one of the best 4-3-3's I've ever seen, yet he used attacking full-backs too. It's all about how the team press how the centre backs react to the exposed space. Michael Laudrup said on Revista last season that everyone knows how to beat Barcelona, but it's harder to put into practice. The most obvious was the space behind the full-back, but it doesn't work most of the time. That's because as a team, they know exactly how to react when the space is exploited behind Alves. The same is currently happening with Alba.
We're still a long way off what I'd expect to be a fully functioning 4-3-3. The idea is that the three in the middle will be technical players who can press defensively and offensively. The same with the wingers. We're not at that level yet.
