Avb was very lucky at porto because he inherited some fantastic players but his 433 was very.good to watch.

He tried the same defensive highline high fullbacks at chelsea but they got slaughtered. They were too easy to play against which is happening to us to some extent and he had some decent players there.

We concede goals too easily and this formation / personnel in the formation are partly the reason for that. im not sure it will work and the key difference between rafas high fullbacks and rodgers is that 2-1 midfield axis vs rodgers 1-2.

Players should always look to push on but the space / gaps they leave behind have to be covered.

as coaches the worst thing you can do is over coach. Teach them football basics, patterns of play etc... in training and then let them play the game for themselves.

thats how they learn - by solving problems themselves.
You let them play long passes though, right? I was the Glenn Hoddle of my junior league ...used to ping laser-like passes over the top for our pacey forward, or switch the play cross-field.

We let the kid choose his own pass. it doesnt matter if its a long pass or a short one. As long its the right one.

The cliches are just rolling off tip tonguey.

what a ****ing load of bollocks. have any of you ever seen man city's under 11's or uniteds play. I have and players are raised to understand from a very early age about tactics and their roles within the team.

What the patterns of play are etc... they all know what they are supposed to be doing.

With the greatest of respect Rinus, I don't think you can compare either of the manc u11 sides with anything approaching a professional football side of just about any level.

I don't want to pry, but you coach kids and have an over inflated sense of yourself and your own ability...

                  Are you Paul dalglish?

And you must he derren brown because youve just outed me.

Kids are taught about tactics from an early age at academies but just because they arent given 20 page dossiers doesnt mean they dont understand the basics. they all know about shape and their own positions and what their options are when they have the ball.

Usually the attacking players are the last ones to understand the basics but normally central defenders and central midfield players are all pretty switched on even at under 11's.

I saw man citys under 11's recently and they didnt play as individuals but they played as a team. And they were very good.

remember that video clip someone posted of the junior team playing tika taka, would put our team to shame. even though they were kids they were still understanding the movement needed to support the rest of the team.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

thats exactly my point. young players need to have some knowledge of tactics to make something like that work.

20 years ago it wasnt so much like this but the introduction of foreign coaching methods has led to the whole process being much more structured.

thats why you see the likes of city, utd and barca place an emphasis on tactics from an early age. Ive never seen liverpool's under 11's but im sure they're at that level in terms of tactical set up etc...

My lad picked up the ball on the edge of the box towards the left, ran into space, beat two players and played a pass to the striker who ran on to hit the bar. It was outstanding, I was very proud, but he was shouted at for not putting his boot through it when they thought he had lost his footing.

at the end of the day its got to be fun for kids.

you have to give them freedom to make choices on the pitch and enjoy playing otherwise we end up producing robots or athletes but not footballers.

skill is the hardest part of the game because its almost impossible to coach. You've either got it from an early age or you havent so the players that are skillful should be encouraged to play that way from an early age.

Really imo, the team should be built around that player who has the ability to beat other players and create things because he is unique. However, its the other way round with the kids that are skillful are fitted into a team and often marginalised so they end up looking disinterested and lazy.
