I think they were very lucky in that a lot of talented players came through at once. Beckham giggs butt nevilles scholes to add to what was already a very good team.
Theyve had one or two since jonny evans wellbeck but thats probably about it. Others like chadwick have flattered more than anything else.
We have our own youth coming through kelly shelvey even though he was bought recently sterling suso wisdom and perhaps robinson. only time will tell just how good these players are but for now theyre all doing well.
If of those six four can become steady players and two are world beaters like suso and sterling thats a massive addition to the squad and saves us plenty of money.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

I don't know about Sturridge. Looks a world beater at times, then 5 mins later he looks like utter ****e. Could be another Babel.Originally posted by el matador View PostIf we could get both walcott and sturridge for less than 20m combined that would be very good business. Both still very young and talented.
Certainly would add plenty to our attack.
I don't think Rodgers is convinced either, as apparently he had the option to sign him, but decided against it.K ris90210

Unfortunately our budgets dont allow us to buy more complete players.
He'd have cost us about £12 million. I'm sure that's more than enough to buy more 'complete' players.

I fail to see how Rodgers is a backward step from Hodgson? Just watching 90 minutes of *any* game this season immediately shows we've played a better brand of football than we *ever* would have with Hodgson.
I think there is room for constructive criticism from those performances, but nothing as knee-jerk as that.Last edited by Muddled; 04-11-12, 11:16 PM.

Well they do, otherwise it would be unlikely for the previous manager to have been sacked.Originally posted by Bari View Post

The honeymoon period is over, surly BR will now start to feel a degree of pressure, no matter what the owners say. Time will tell wheather he is the real deal or a good impression. The evidence so far on the field points towards him being capable of good things with a 'proper squad'. He needs time, the man has ONE striker at his disposal FFS. He does not deserve nor do we have any right to judge him until this time next season. The man has an impossible task with this squad.

Some people just won't be happy unless we're consistently winning, and that is completely fair. Just the nature of being a football supporter really. Not trying to call anyone out because obviously, supporters want to see their team win, and it's easy to highlight mistakes and misjudgment when we're losing and drawing.
I do, however, think it's baffling that some people think we've had no progress just because we aren't higher up the league table. It's a very myopic viewpoint, seeing as our performances have been holistically GOOD. The suggestion that we're on the same trajectory we were on when Hodgson was manager just doesn't make sense. At all. There are so many factors, mitigating ones at that, which explain why results haven't gone our way or why we're not doing better than we currently are. Everything from our owners letting the manager down in the transfer market to completely and utterly inept referee decisions to attempting to overhaul a squad containing several bit-part players on enormous wages to the inexperience of youth.
It's just frustrating, that's all. People are already moaning. Yes, it's November. Yes, we've had 2 wins in 10 league games which sounds like a damning statistic but considering only one of the three losses was actually a poor performance, it clearly merits more consideration.
I hate to see some becoming impatient already. I've been impressed with most of Rodgers's tactical decisions and many of his team selections, how he's gained the support of the senior players, and how he handles the press. Rafa was our manager what seems like ages ago now. For now Rodgers is our gaffer and he's a massive step-up from Hodgson and Kenny, albeit a smaller one for the latter.
Anyway whatever. I feel like saying these things falls on deaf ears most of the time, but I just wanted to get that off my chest.
