Yeah we have a decent squad, I said not great

We're losing Johnson/Gerrard/Jones immediately, there is plenty of work to be done and I think a figurehead like Klopp is vital.

We need another clearout, we shouldn't be in this position three years into the project. Rodgers' second season fooled us into thinking he was a special manager, with hindsight he wasn't.
What the hell would changing at Christmas have achieved? Who would have been available? No one!

We don't need a clear out, we need a considered development of the first team squad. Rodgers did sort the defending out largely to be fair, obviously that seems like an illusion given the recent capitulations but for a while Liverpool were the shut out kings.

We do need a clear out, we have some decent players. Sturridge and Coutinho are the only standout players for me, we are poor compared to the teams we're attempting to compete with. The defence is abysmal, but last season we scored so freely that it didn't matter.

er it did - Liverpool would have won the league!

I don't think Rodgers will go.
Think we'll have another season like this one.

The thing is you've got Klopp and Rafa (and possibly Ancelotti) available - no need to pay compensation to their clubs and save a few £.

I just don't think the owners are ambitious enough to go for a proven manager.

In this cluster**** of a season all of the following should get equal blame
            • Rodgers
            • The players (the cunts are bullet proof it seems, yet they are the ones that left the big steaming pile of **** on the pitch for us to enjoy)
            • The Ownership/Hierarchy, this vision is there's (moneyball) how many poor appointments can you make?

But Rodgers is the one catching the majority of the blame.
He’s here! I *know* he’s here! That’s him, I’m telling you that’s him! You hear me? I’m telling you it’s *Keyser Soze*!

How can you reasonably expect FSG to have sacked the Manager 6 months after rewarding him with a bumper contract for our best season in years. And in the middle of the season with no obvious replacement. It doesn't make sense.

A bag of hot air would do at least as well as Rodgers. And it would be cheaper.

Persisting with him hasn't done us any good at all. What did we achieve that we wouldn't have with an interim manager? Keeping him when it was clear that he was out of his depth and didn't have a clue didn't make any sense. So here we are.

Well I for one think the players played like a bunch of utter utter cunts yesterday ...Gerrards last game, last game of the season, away fans paying upwards of 700 pounds to watch Stevie play his last game, The manager under pressure ... and 6 ****ing nil to stoke .. getting muscled off the ball ... passing was atrocious ... no fight ... no pride ... nobody seemed to give one single **** ... and I am sorry Gerrard may be a legend and he is ...but he as also been utter gash all season .. has not looked arsed in anyway and he captained that pile of utter utter ****e ... I did not see him rally the troops once yesterday ... they should all be ****ing ashamed of themselve ... truly awful ... worse result I have ever witnessed ... and last game of the season ... Useless heartless soft *******s

You don't think Gerrard may just have been worn down by it all ? i for one lay no blame at his door for yesterday or this season tbh, the bloke has been exemplary in his captaincy of lfc, a near 17 yrs of consistency, every time being let down by either managers, players or owners, and yes he's had bad spells and can be blamed for some things, but they have been few and far between. imo.

As i say i'm not excusing him of everything ever, just feel there are more worthy recipients for blame is all.

The point is, under the circumstances at the time, how could you reasonably expect FSG to have pulled the trigger on the Manager? As far as I know the owners can't predict the future, so how the rest of the season actually panned out is irrelevant.

Plus we could easily have had a worse second half of the season with an interim Manager. 6th and Europa is a poor finish but 10th or 12th and no Europa is far worse.

FSG should never have appointed him in the first place. He had done nothing and achieved nothing in the game. It was an unnecessary punt.

Well if they bin him now that's the logical conclusion.

Its not any logical conclusion unless you are ready to dismiss the chances of any manager after all they nearly all get sacked in the end and the average life expectancy for a manager has never been shorter.

Was anyone calling for his head this time last year?

If you're happy for us to finish 6th then I'm not going to try to persuade you otherwise, I'm not happy with our results or the manner of our defeats. We had a dreadful first half of the season, Rodgers seemed incapable of dealing with the issues - mainly with the defence. I'm not a Rodgers fan, but FSG appointed him and whilst the season is underway I will try to support the manager. I'm sure that he's a goner now anyway so I just hope that FSG replace him with someone who can get the best out of the players we have, attract some decent players to the club and introduce a better balance and structure to the team.
