Think you have to remember that he has spent £12-13 million on Borini who is supposedly meant to contribute to our attacking play (hes injured but even before that I didnt see anywhere near enough quality from him) and hes spent a couple of million on Assaidi who he doesnt play

Rodgers next couple of signings have to work out, if they dont hes in real trouble imo

I think it is perhaps a problem of his inexperience in that area (and the difficulty of the task in the highly physical PL) rather than a flaw of his system/philosophy of play.

I think it is reasonable to say that Swansea need some leeway for being a promoted team and its isn't as if he with us he has reduced our efficiency in front of goal - merely not altered an existing problem.
      Absolutely

We're talking about Swansea here. First season in the premiership with a squad that cost a relative pittance.

I do find it odd that yesterday, he could've chucked on Assaidi to run at the Newcastle defence on top of Suarez and Sterling, and he put on Downing instead.

Borini, well, the jury is out on him for me. He should not be playing in the wide areas.

Downing instead of Assaidi was plain weird.

The problem with borini is he's not the finished product, but his qualities are there for all to see. I have a real soft spot for the guy and I'm convinced he'll turn out to be a god signing.

I agree that we need some signings who are going to come in and hit the ground running, in the same way as Allen has done, only in attacking positions

We need a starter comfortable playing in either wide forward position and ideally at the point as an alternative to Suarez when he's banned/rested.

Must say I'm not in the slightest bit convinced by Borini

He has good movement but his touch, vision, passing, shooting etc... are appalling imo

I must say I'm not over enamoured with Allen either although I accept that it could be to do with the absence of Lucas

Allen reminds me of Ray Wilkins with his side to side / backwards passing

I agree with the borini thing in that hes not ready to play regularly in the first team or probably not ready to contribute substantially to the first team.

If you think that the likes of rodallega and ba were all available for sub 7m then its a lot of money for an untested 21 year old especially since our goal scoring issues have been clear for at lst a season.

Does anyone have a complete breakdown of all the stats for the season. Total competitive games played how many won lost drawn goals scored conceded etc...

We must have played closed to 20 games under rodgers by now.

His vision and his passing aren't the best, but you'd hope his passing would improve over time. His shooting is good, I just think he tries a bit too hard at times - a claim which can be made about most of our players I'd say. As you said, his movement is very good, and I think that's one of those qualities that's hard to teach. His work ethic is absolutely fantastic. Bear in mind he's still very young. He'll get better, no doubt about it. People who work that hard always do.

                    I think we've missed him.

I'm not sure it is all that helpful as many games in the Europa and league cup have been used as developmental/squad exercises. We know where we are in the league and the problems are fairly obvious. The real question (to which I doubt we have much insight) is does Rodgers have solutions and on what timescale(s) will they become apparent if he does.

Borini has played 5 games for us. 5.

He needed to buy a few cheap options to keep the numbers up. It wasn't as if Cole was going to playing, and Downing was coming off a **** season. Assaidi has played a couple.

I dont care how many games hes played its obvious he struggles technically

£12-13 million is not exactly cheap

The worry is that Downing is actually being preferred to Assaidi

agree as regard Borini. Early days yet but sure we'll see.

I like Allen but he is struggling of late in that Lucas role which he just can't do. IMO we'll see the best of him when Lucas gets back & he can focus more on his passing game and leave some of the donkey work to Lucas.
