Oh and just in case this is directed at me I want to make it crystal clearOriginally posted by Kenneth View PostThe difference is that Shaggy is commenting on how he sees things now. He's not someone who is going to keep hammering away at an agenda without consideration of the constraints we're under and the fact we're less than a dozen league games into Rodgers's tenture. Unlike some people.

rodgers record is pretty mixed which is what you would expect of a new manager trying to get his ideas across.
played 18 competitive fixture, won 7, lost 5 and drawn 6.
we're still losing too many games almost one in every three. There's a lot of work to do.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

I think most people would agree we needed more than one striker if Carroll was going. The main one didn't happen, as we all know.Originally posted by el matador View Postthats a lot of money to be spending on a sub when we're desperately short of goals upfront.
It wasn't aimed at you mate.Originally posted by Lecter View PostOh and just in case this is directed at me I want to make it crystal clear

the thing is we were linked with dempsey and FSG didnt sanction it. from looking at that situation dempsey isnt a striker but more of a support striker to what we've already got which was suarez and borini.
Again, i dont know if dempsey was the fallback option because we didnt sell carroll but we did go in for him. which probably implies a much bigger role for borini.
I also think shaggys right in that once we lose the ball we're all over the place. there's no shape and people are running around like headless chickens. The system of keeping posession in the final third is great but it means we have to commit men forward. Yesterday, we lost the ball a few times and then all of a sudden we had seven or 8 men behind the ball.
we're not in control of the ball and we dont pick up the second ones either.Last edited by el matador; 05-11-12, 03:14 PM.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

Agree. The accommodation of Gerrard probably isn't helping there, possibly. One thing that struck me about Swansea in the cup was how organized they were without the ball. I guess its easier when you are away and expecting to be on the backdoor more.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

This is a major problem for me with our current set upOriginally posted by Kenneth View PostOne thing that struck me about Swansea in the cup was how organized they were without the ball.
Its something I expected to see progress on over the last few weeks as imo its the easiest thing to put together on a training ground and then translate it to match day
It hasnt materialised anywhere near enough and thats a worryBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

i was outside a meeting room in a hotel when a premiership team were having their team talk prior to getting on the coach and going to their game. i onlt got a few brief glimpses and could hear clearly when people went in or out of the room. there was a "motivational video" with all the goals of the season, some inspiring music, etc. the manager was giving it the do it for your team mates thing... **** me, i almost had a tear in my eye
as the players came out to collect their luggage i could clearly see them all looking at one another rolling their eyes and shaking their heads, obviously thinking that their driver didnt have a scooby.
i was talking with a mate last night and mentioned this. i said that many senior players must have heard it all, all the bull****, and does it really make a difference, etc.
we then discussed how things must have gone down at half time in istanbul. those players came back out like they were ready to die for the shirt.
i wonder if rafa has a little snigger watching being Liverpool...
i really do hope brendan [or any other manager] does well for us but i do wonder if he is just winging the motivational side of things. its almost too corny for words.
maybe they are all the same, and its just that the documentary has allowed us to see a side that might have otherwise been private.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

the thing about swansea is that there is no expectation.
the best their fans could hope for was not to lose every match in the premier league so playing the possession based defensive football and picking up points here and there was brilliant for them.
Their fans arent going to complain if they get a draw at stoke or get beat five nil at old trafford. For swansea fans last season was a bonus so if their manager kept it tight and kept the ball so what.
liverpool fc is not like that. the fans expect and want to win every match and every competition we play in. we want to see us attacking other teams and the big players we have also have that philosophy. You can see gerrard and suarez are dying to get forward and score / create goals.
But that involves risk which rodgers doesnt want to take unnecessarily.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

A lot of players are thick as pig **** though and probably lap it up.
