but this season top 8 is where we should be with our squad. If we finish below 8th for me rodgers will have failed.

Unfortuntately BR is suffering from Kennys massive, massive **** up so its harsh to judge him so early. Secondly, he can't be compared to kenny last season on the basis that kenny had 6 months to assess his squad and then invested 100 mill over the summer. Then after that he served up the utter shambles that was last season.

So lets give BR 100 mill during a summer and see what the following season brings. only after giving BR the same opportunity can you compare his performances to last season. Surprised you don't see it that way Lec.

Kenny's mistakes in the transfer market have a) given BR a number of players who are never going to be good enough and b) taken up so much budget spend that BR will have to wheel & deal in a similar way to Rafa whereby he chooses to strengthen the squad as a whole rather than splash a big sum on 1 or 2 world class players.

Kenny set us back so badly that BR is cleaning up the mess, transforming a playing style and developing our youth players all at the same time and has been with us less than 6 months.

Its chalk and cheese. Really is.

A trophy and the final of another, not sure we will see any of that this season, Or for the forseable future

Brendan Rodgers admits Liverpool have to look like they have half a chance of Champions League football if they are to attract top-quality players.

He says: "Obviously a lot of players want to be in the Champions League so if they want to come in here that is an area we want to get into in the coming years."

More importantly we need to look like we can get into the Champions League to keep Suarez, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson etc happy. That is the biggest concern.

                No it not.

Brendan Plays all but 3/4 of Kenny's Signings (Downing, Henderson, Coates and Carroll, Bellamy) He plays the other 2 on a regular Basis Enrique and Suarez. He got Rid or Adam and Carroll and Bellamy left. But has talent to replace those from within the squad. Suso, Shelvey, Sterling.

                pepe
                Johnson Agger Skrtel - -
                Lucas - -
                Gerrard - - Enrique
                Suarez

8 Players that Kenny Had. That Brendan Has. Brendan has only integrated one of his signings into that team. Allen. I'd be surprised if any of the others actually manage to do any better then Downing, Henderson or Carroll over the course of this season ( Sahin, Borini, Ass-man).

The Squad is weaker then last season. The team is not that different. Kenny made a mistake in buying players that he thought were better then we had and used them to the detriment of the team. Not a Massive Massive mistake. Just something he could have learnt from, if given the chance.

                Downing - Maxi
                Carroll - Kuyt
                Henderson - Polusen

So, aside from a lack of players who can score for us. What is the obvious flaw in our game plan?

Agreed - some of the abuse Dalglish gets on here is unwarranted. Benitez inherited Houllier's team and didn't do too bad (Alonso and Garcia added, as was Nunez).

A trophy in a competition where all the best teams play their reserves until the final, that we took penalties to win over a mediocre lower-division side. In the other final we were a complete shambles and were much worse than the final score indicated.

For the first time in my life I felt like we would probably lose before league games last season and we seemed to be heading inexorably downward.

This season the manager has put out a team with three teenagers many times, as the dross Dalglish signed are simply not good enough. But I now feel optimistic before most games and we've really only had possibly one very poor game - Arsenal at home - and through being on the wrong end of plain bad decisions by officials we have an appreciable number of points fewer than our play has merited. In other words we are in a false position and deserve to be higher.

One thing that's an absolute certainty is that we won't finish in our worst top flight position for 58 years, which is where Dalglish left us, with Rodgers having to try to clear up his mess

I don't understand how some people seem so dissatisfied three months into the season with a new manager after three relatively terrible years. I am much younger than many of you and therefore probably don't have the same high expectations as Liverpool supporters who lived through the 70s and 80s but it'd be nice for some people to have a little more perspective. Obviously we would like to be higher up the table but the incessant criticism from the same people is a wee bit tiresome and mighty deflating.

At least we both agree Kenny Dalglish is a living legend.

Deflating. Just the word. Makes me a bit depressed coming on the football part of this forum sometimes. There is just a lot of gloom around when I think there is LOADS to be optimistic about. In fact I rather see it as an exciting time to be an LFC fan. Maybe its because, like you, I am younger than many who have gone through the heydays.

I have to agree that Rodgers is paying the price now for Kenny's profligacy - the funds we wasted under Kenny & Comolli have, to use the cliché, set us back years. In fact we've wasted money going back to Rafa's last season, although Kenny & Comolli took us to new lows.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Last season was this club's worst league campaign in 50 years, now that was bad. I haven't heard you mention that too many times Lec, why is that ??
It was the worst league campaign in 58 years - since 1954 - so nearer to 60 years than 50. Still, we're not allowed to criticise Kenny Dalglish. Haven't you read the rules?
