Surely you can only judge either of them on their record as coaches before forming any kind of opinion

Xabi hasnt coached yet and Gerrard is only 12 months into the job

As said - I'm not making a case for Alonso but if I had to wager I'd say he's better suited to management than Gerrard.

Can this thread be moved back to the LFC forum? Feels weird him talking about wanting to come back and manage in the general forum. Bring Xabi home!!

He was so good, wasn't he? So good.

I am more excited about the team's future now than I was then, but there was something about how good Xabi was, and how it was something so new and that we so really needed...

(Torres too. Absolutely electric and the finishes... )

Actually that's not true. I was just as excited then. And it was all about Rafa

I used to refer to Xabi as a Rolls Royce footballer, different style of midfielders but I refer to Kevin De Bruyne as the same.

Seems like he's going to coach youth level at Real.

Xabi will be coaching U-13's at Real, Eidur Gudjohnsen has two boys at the Real Academy, one of which is Daniel Tristan who is born 2006 and will probably be playing for Xabi. Hope Xabi and Eidur have buried the hatchet
                          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Imagine being a 12 year old and being coached by Xabi ****in Alonso!!!

Would have loved if he ended up as a coach at one of our youth teams. In fact, he would have been a brilliant replacement for Stevie.

Yeah, yeah, we know who else is going in 2026.

Really would not surprise me if Xabi had it in mind too.

Work hard at Leverkusen, get better and better as a manager and then be in the running for the hot seat at Anfield at some point in the future and be so on merit rather than using his name as a past player.

Though I am convinced Klopp will add another year to his own stay and bow out at the end of the 2026/27 season.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
