its not like he isn't turning up to play, he still gives his all for the club and nearly always seems to have his heart in it. he is entitled to play for his national team for as long as he pleases like any other footballer, as long as he is still being picked to play for them. we have no right to question his will to continue to play for England.96 Never Forgotten

I agree. It's up to gerrard. Obviously you would hope he makes sensible decisions about when he can and cannot play for England but I understand his desire like the majority of other players who aspire to play for his country.Originally posted by Fernandinho View Postits not like he isn't turning up to play, he still gives his all for the club and nearly always seems to have his heart in it. he is entitled to play for his national team for as long as he pleases like any other footballer, as long as he is still being picked to play for them. we have no right to question his will to continue to play for England.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

God your a moron.Originally posted by Arn View PostThis is what I said.
How many of you think that he wouldn't played if Capello picked him?
Gerrard should have said no over a week ago.
Now he said no either yesterday or today. That means that he hadn't ruled out playing for the national team until then.
Now I respect him because he said no. Now he is putting us ahead of the national team something he should do the rest of his career from now on. He is to injury prone to continue to play for them and for us.
He shouldn't have begged not to play. He should as I said have said no over a week ago.

Playing for england will be detremental to his Liverpool career and Liverpool must come first. If ditching England benefits LFC, it's what he should do.Originally posted by Fernandinho View Postits not like he isn't turning up to play, he still gives his all for the club and nearly always seems to have his heart in it. he is entitled to play for his national team for as long as he pleases like any other footballer, as long as he is still being picked to play for them. we have no right to question his will to continue to play for England.

Cool, I was just going to keep asking the same question until everyone came off there collective periods
I cant wait for him to start bossing things for us again. He can show the new lot what it really means to play for us. Hopefully he can be the galvanising figure that the team forms around.*Except Michael, who died.

I've had second thoughts on this one - Uruguay's games are friday and tuesday, so he will be back in Liverpool by Wednesday - gives him around 72 hours before the manc game.Originally posted by Mostar View PostMe too. He may not last all 90 minutes but imo he will start.
We need a game changer and with Luis being more likely to be on the bench from the onset Stevie should start.
