Durham has a point but (in Rafa style) needs to get his facts right. Gerrard was never going to leave for Chelsea in 2004 FFS, it was summer 2005 after the CL win. Don't ever remember hearing anything about him being set to move to Chelsea for £36m in 2004.

It was definitely in the press around then. And I remember rumours that Carthorse Carragher chinned him during the EurosOriginally posted by Tee View PostDurham has a point but (in Rafa style) needs to get his facts right. In fairness, even Gerrard mentioned about how Chelsea inquired twice, once in 2004 and, obviously more determinedly, 2005.
Ah, here we go
Ferguson was trying to fill some big shoes when he made known his admiration for Gerrard in 2004.
‘If you were looking for the player you would replace Keane with, it would be Gerrard,’ he said. ‘He has become the most influential player in England, bar none. More than Vieira. To me, Gerrard is Keane. Anyone would love to have Gerrard in their team.’
It was a very public flirtation but one that appears to have gone beyond a strategically placed newspaper interview and one that coincided with strong interest from Chelsea.
While Gerrard is reluctant to divulge the finer details, he made it clear that there were advances.
'That sort of thing has been going on for the last 10 years,’ said Gerrard. ‘People only really heard about it with Mourinho and Chelsea in 2004 and 2005. But it has happened a few times.
'It was flattering back then because the two best managers around wanted me to play in their teams.
'Gary Neville said he (Ferguson) wanted me. But you understand that playing for Manchester United would have been impossible. I never would have wanted to play for Manchester United. They are a fantastic club but that rivalry is there, and it’s why Gary could not have played for us either.
'Don’t get me wrong. It was flattering that, after everything he has done in the game, Sir Alex Ferguson wanted me to play in his team. But that was an impossible situation.
'The Mourinho thing was different, of course. This club weren’t really challenging at the time, so there was something to think about. But I ended up saying no and a year later I said no againLast edited by McDermotX; 01-10-13, 01:53 PM."I will make the boys feel your support"

Chelsea did also want him in 2004. Its just that the 2005 bid was a lot more public.Originally posted by Tee View PostDurham has a point but (in Rafa style) needs to get his facts right. Don’t get me wrong, I would f*cking love it of we won the league, but I don’t think anything will ever come close to how Istanbul felt. Maybe it was because it was the first major success that I could truly appreciate in my lifetime, but I just don’t think those emotions and the elation at the final whistle could be recreated over 38 games. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I've thought about that question, what wenger's arsenal have previously achieved and what mourinho's chelsea did..I still don't know what I do?
invincible league title
double winning title
in the fergie era?
Champions League win 2005 or possible League Title win in 2009 beating Mancs and Fergie?
Its too difficult to answer?

I'm not sure that Rafa is the best ever foreign manager in the PL but he probably achieved the biggest miracle ever in football when we won the 2005 CL final.
Three miracles.
First we turned around 0-1 to a 3-1 win against Olympiacos.
Miracle number two away against Juventus without several key players, a 0-0 draw.
Miracle number three was of course the final.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

It's easy to answer, no swap. A league win wont even come close unless it's in completely insane circumstances like the way City won it. But you're just as likely to win it with the players sat at home watching the rivals drop points on tv or a routine and boring 3-0 win against Sunderland. Both will feel as good in the long run but for that high/buzz it's the CL.

Miracle number four, Making Djimi Traore a CL Winner outstrips all those
