    James Pearce

As it stands Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho will be the first choice centre-back pairing.

    Good

There is no way he knows that for a fact- it's as much a guess for him as it is for us

I've never been convinced by either of these two to be honest. I know I'm going against the grain with Sakho, but I think both are prone to errors and need to be paired with a big commanding cb who's a great reader of the game. That would've been my second priority this season after a Striker. I think both can be very good in the right pairing, I just don't think the pair of them together is the answer.

In terms of the senior defenders at the club (Skrtel, Sakho, Lovren and Toure) they are the obvious partnership. Toure is really 4th choice, Skrtel and Lovren are similar types of players so I doubt they would work together, As Skrtel is the better of the two that leaves him and Sakho. The only way I see that changing is if we bring someone in, or one of the younger CBs stakes a claim for one of their places.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I didn't mention Lovren, for one reason only. Toure's like Skrtel and Sakho, only with the bad bits amplified.

We'd need to bring someone else in, but I think we're done now, hence I'm playing Moreno in midfield

The Italian press or media generally is far worse, ain't no BBC or guardian level reliability there.

Not the focus of the article but interesting to see the observation "Mamadou Sakho was nearly off the charts in how well he advanced the ball aggressively":

these ****in journos are full of ****e..... if Lovren happened to make the start then it would be something along the lines of "Sakho picked up a slight twinge and Lovren has looked brilliant in training"..... ******. I'd love of Lovren and Gomez started in defense - just to make this **** look like the ****in **** that he is.

It appears we'll have a much more direct stle next year, so you'd think Sakho on paper would be perfect for our system. I love how he fizzes the ball forward, forcing play forward.

On another note it's interesting that Lucas had the highest percentage for forward passes, considering he only ever passes it backwards to to the side. (Excluding Can who played CB).

But f*ck it, what use are stats when people have eyes. If they say Lucas or Sakho can't pass, then clearly they are right.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
