Don't get me wrong I'd like to see him AND a proper striker but he was poor tonight - surely you can't deny thatOriginally posted by Fredo View PostDoesn't matter. He usually wins us games far more than that. And anway, we wasted far too many chances without Firmino being involved. Sturridge & particularly Salah the biggest culprits.

But the point still stands. Salah missed several chances, Can was terrible too. They playe the full game. It wasn't jut Firmino.Originally posted by BigChief View PostKey words in that sentence. WHEN he CAME ON. As opposed to already having the run of the whole game. Not a fair comparison.
Everyone has bad games - everyone in our team has this season, Henderson has gone missing, In the eyes of some Gini was **** a few games back.
The problem with this team is that we are rotating two gaolkeepers, the best of which is only just average. (And the best one we have may well be third choice) we've got a teenager playing fullback who needs to develop, one semi-capable centreback who doesn't organise, and Moreno as much as I love the mad little ****er who couldn't get near the team if he **** rainbows last season.
Firmino isn't a problem. At all. And I don't get why people seem to keep wanting him to be.
Maybe its his teeth. The times they are a changin'.

When you dominate, create opportunities and pressure like we do, but fail to take those opportunities so often, then you have to look at it as a problem. It may not be our only problem, or our biggest in most games, but it is a problem. Firmino has the #9 shirt, he's playing centrally more than the others, and he's not a good goalscorer. The point is it's not the main problem we need to address, as much as we would like to we aren't going to go pissing money on strikers when we have a very good front three and our defence is ****e.
Firmino is about a 1 in 3 striker in the league. 2 in 6 this season which follows that trend. we could possible improve on that but it isn't the first priority, the defence is.The times they are a changin'.

Not good enough as number one choice centre forward. Really poor again tonight, and its far too early in the season to be talking fatigue. The **** thing about this squad is we don't have any options. Sturridge is a fraction of what he was, Origi has gone and I doubt he'll be back (He's never been the same since the Funes Mori tackle anyway), and Solanke is all potential. Again, recruitment negligence holding us back.

Poor game last night but Firmino is still vital for our season. He's not a goal poacher or a number 9 but a vital component on how we are set up to play. He creates space for our wide forwards to move into. That is how we are set-up to play. Yes, we have missed chances but goal scoring is not an issue. Salah has the same amount of league goals as Kane and Mane has one less and whilst playing two less games. It's not as simple as switching Firmino for a goal poacher and goals will flow.
