What is so implausible about Holgate thinking he heard something bad and what is wrong with the FA taking it seriously?
Isn't this what we'd want the FA to do if one of ours thought they heard something racist said against them?
PS. He should still get a ban for that **** house challenge.
If he did and now its been proven that Firminho didn't say any such word should offer at the very least an olive branch. TBF Everton are usually classy on stuff like this hence I'm gobsmacked they've not mentioned Firmy's innocence in some way.
FWIW if you accuse someone of anything at work and its turned out unproven, you apologise and move on - Seriously classes statement from the bitters that.

Because it doesn't play into the agenda of those who think all the officials are bent and dead set against us.
I see no point in the FA saying - he said he heard it and he didn't. I would rather believe he thought he heard it than he made it up tbh, and actually I believe that. Yes, he should be charged with violent conduct yada yada different issue yada.
If he disagrees with it why would he want to end it? Though if he disagrees publicly he'll be done for contempt so he'll no doubt no comment it if this is the case.
I don't think he'll get questioned about it that much anyway TBH, media coverage of this has been pretty minimal. A few no comments if even that and it will be over.
It's quite possible for both sides to be certain they're right. You can have Firmino not a racist and Holgate not a cunt in the same universe quite easily.
I appreciate that, the most obvious example being if he has misheard. It could be the case that he still believes that he was racially abuse but there wasn't enough evidence. If he disagrees with the decision unless more evidence can be found then that is the end of it as far as everyone else is concerned. I don't see what he can gain by continuing it.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
It's pretty obvious he's made this up, either in the heat of the moment or quite deliberately. I'd have more sympathy if 14 witnesses hadn't failed to corroborate his account; and/or it hadn't taken place immediately after he committed violent conduct for which he should've been sent off.
Making a false accusation is at least as bad racism itself; Holgate is basically a cnut, and the Anfield support should remind him of that fact for the rest of his career.
Boom - Then Holgate should at leat acknowledge that
Why? Do we make crime victims apologise outside courtrooms to their attackers if they're found innocent? No, we acknowledge and allow for the fact that the victim may still feel victimised and may not agree with the verdict.
But you lot are going all histrionic drama queen and taking it personally.
How personally do you think Holgate is taking it if he feels he was racially abused when you lot are getting so wound up in the 3rd person based on assumptions?

Oh Come on - The FA have admitted no evidence, they cant find one shred to convict him, if Holgate misheard come out and say so, no doing so, leaves a bitter taste.

You are willing to jump to those pretty serious conclusions without any evidence whatsoever?
Whatever happened I think it’s best we all forget about it - genuine abuse victims should feel able to come forward and what you have suggested would make people think twice about doing so.
We're going round in circles. What you're saying doesn't make sense if Holgate doesn't believe he misheard.
Are you completely unable to see a view which doesn't tie exactly in with yours?
There are generally shades between the black and the white.
Ifs and buts. Though if that’s the case then shouldn’t Holgate have a bit of humility and accept that after a lengthy investigation he’s got 12 players, the referee Bobby Madley, the fourth official Jon Moss, two Portuguese lip-reading experts and video footage telling him that it’s more than likely that he’s mistaken?
