Ruben Baraja scored similar numbers when Valencia won the league. He was their TOP scorer!

Bobby is outstanding but he has been way below his best. The problem we have is that there is nobody even remotely capable of challenging for his spot. I was excited when we were linked with Werner because he would have been perfect competition for Bobby.

Everyone goes on about Bobby's work rate, selflessness and the way he brings others into the game but he is also a very technical and skillful footballer and is far better than just your average work horse, I think people forget just how good he is with a football.

Incredibly talented guy that should be doubling those figures with the gifts he has. Everyone has dips in form, this is clearly a dip. Said in the other thread maybe he just needs so competition?

Way below his best is over the top dude. He doesn’t score as much but he does so much in games that it’s irrelevant, almost.

In 2020 he has been way below his best Nig, very few who would disagree with that imo. He is a brilliant player and capable of so much more in front of goal, he's not just a work horse. He's is a smart and technically gifted footballer.

Scoring goals in what it's all about as a CF, regardless of how much work he does off the ball or who he brings into the game etc a centre forward will always be judged on his goals tally. Because Bobby isn't exactly the regular type of striker he gets a bit of a pass on this as he leaves the glory to Salah & Mane but he does need to score more and imo will next season. I see this as a bit of a blip and am hoping he breaks that duck before the season is over.

Salah's inability to strike the ball since the restart has really brought the focus on Bobby, which is a little unfair. I'd say Salah has been more guilty of bring ineffective in the box in this time period and it has directly impacted or results.

Only in the last 2 games though.

Salah has had the chances to actually get the golden boot again in the last three matches. Should have had a hat-trick v Brighton. Should have scored at least one v Burnley. Expected him to tuck one of his chances away last night.

He's missing some absolute sitters. I'd say his form sums up the entire teams, doing dome good work. Getting in some great positions. Just not quite as clinical as we are used to.

I'd say rumours of our demise are greatly exaggerated. It's the narrative all the other teams want, that we don't actually enjoy winning the League. **** that.

I cant wait for the trophy lift next weds I am glad we are turning it into a spectacle.

There is no way the lads will be as wasteful next season. Even when we are playing **** we still create loads of chances. Mo should have that golden boot out of sight, he has been so wasteful. Like that goal vs Chelsea, sometimes you just have to smash the ****ing thing. He tries little chippy, curlers all the time and has been guilty of trying to walk the ball into the net this season... otherwise that golden boot would have been his months ago.

You wouldn't change any of our front three, we just haven't been as clinical as we would have liked this season. A back up CF & LB and a driving attacking midfielder like what we thought Keita and Ox would be, would be lovely imo.

That's an interesting point. Zola and Bergkamp both played when 442 was still quite common and teams played with 2 recognises strikers, yet their scoring records were never questioned.

Firmino has a better goals to game ratio than both (even with no set-pieces) , brings so much to the team outside of scoring, yet he's always criticised for his lack of goals.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

It's because he wears #9, and the commentators are old-school in terms of the role of a #9 in the team

It's a bit weird that #9 is the only real number that they care about in that regard, for example no one cares if #2 isn't a RB or 3 a LB etc

Although I must admit it does bother me a bit that the Wolves GK wears #11
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I guess his role is also the closest to a classic centre forward in our team, with both Mane and Salah cutting in from the wings, so they evaluate Firmino against goals without acknowledging all the link up work he does.

Maybe we should put #9.5 on his back?
