Just incredibly **** man-management. He should've been sold on 2 years ago.

Playing favourites is absolutely killing us and will be the end of Klopp.

He's been on the decline for ages now, admittedly had a decent start to this season but injured again. This is exactly the sort of deal we keep committing to. Nice fella , great memories but in sporting terms, he needs to be ****ed off. Use the wages for someone of more use to us.
Depends on the terms of the extension I suppose.

He'd have to basically be on a wage similar to a promising u21 kid for me to accept it as a decent decision.

Tweet is a bit misleading as it's a 2 year extension, which would take him to 33. If we believe there is a role for him in the squad I don't have an issue, he is a squad player of/when he signs that so as long as that is reflected in the terms not too much of an issue. Henderson signed a 4 year contract at 30(?) while he was a first team player, personally I don't think the two situations are that similar.

Also I suspect the guy tweeting is wanting 6 or 7 players out in the summer all of which need to be replaced which isn't realistic

            Leaving or Should be;
            Kelleher - wants games
            Milner - too old
            Phillips - needs games
            Williams - very average
Matip - too injury prone - form alarmingly bad - on the basis we keep Virg, Konate and Gomez we need a change to keep it fresh
            Naby - not renewing Contract
            OX - not good enough
Fabinho - fit for the knackers yard
            Salah - waste of money
Bobby - part of the last gen, always injured

You could add Jones and Hendo but that's probably too much at once.

That's also assuming we think Robertson and Trent will discover their form and in trends part, his desire for the game.

Major ****ing overall time. If we get a gulf state in it's doable, if not we're ****ed and playing for top 10.

Dan Kennet is one if the best follows for LFC related statistical insight - he is not the guy jumping up and down asking for players. He is questioning the model we are going with now and tying older injury prone players to longer contracts

We are struggling to bring in in the midfielders we need a massive overhaul of other areas of the squad isn't happening, I have posted in other threads about the likely issue we will have with HG players next season, so it's unlikely we would move the likes of Henderson or Jones on regardless of anything else. Again Matip has always had injury issues that's nothing new, don't see anything changing there, fairly sure Fabinho will be given time to rediscover his form.

I must admit I am not familiar with him, but I don't feel he covers himself in glory here, getting ages/contract length wrong. As I said in my post I think the situation with Firmino is different to Henderson and in my view the tweet came across somewhat ranty. Despite the injury Firmino has been having a good season, his goals to mins ratio has to be up there with the best he's had in his time with us, so there is also that side of it to consider too.

Personally I don't see the big problem offering a 31 yo player a contract until he's 33, I don't feel his injury record is a bad others in the squad so IMO he seems an odd one to go after in this regard. The whole squad are getting injuries which I think is more to do with training and treatment methods than anything else.

Knowing Klopp it'll be £250k a week and Bobby gets to rattle Klopp’s wife twice a month

What we don’t know is the terms - if his basic was reduced a lot and then he got money based on appearances/goals etc then fine. If it’s more of the same then it’s not clever

I would hope that given he is now a squad player rather than a regular starter the contract would reflect that

I really love Bobby, but he'll be taking up a valuable place in the squad, aside from the wages. The logical step is to cut loose. If it's true that our squad is full, we can't afford to retain him. He's hardly ever available too.

I personally think we really miss him right now, no matter his injury status or contract.

He was in arguably the best goalscoring form he has ever been for us. Is he one for the future - no. But I'd have him in the squad and if he is fit, I would start him v Real. He still is the only player that links play between mid and attack for us.

Finding a replacement would be nice. Or having Jota stay fit would be nice.

He's only going to be 4 months off 34 at the end of the contract, so it's not terribly misleading.

From what I've read, he's missed 36 games so far in this and the last season. As we all know, these injuries tend to become more frequent as you get on and it's the injuries that are killing us now. To me it seems like we're not learning from our mistakes and it's just another example of our lack of a ruthless streak, as is required at the top tier.

There is a possibility that Gakpo is set to become the Bobby for the foreseeable future though, the link up man, and that he's the best person to show Gakpo how to play that role the way Jürgen likes, in which case this may make perfect sense?

Personally, I'm not overly optimistic that this is the correct decision though.

Depends on his role in the squad. If he is going to be a squad player and he is happy with that, then its not a bad option. If we do get into the Europa (or even the vauxhall European conference thing) then he might be a good guy to play with some young players too.
