If he went to Chelsea you just know he'd be lethal for them, but if they offered £25m+ for him, it would be impossible to turn down.

He was never a good fit for us, but he's still a good player. I don't know much about Conte, so in all honesty I don't know if it would be a good move for Benteke, but if his new club play to his strengths then he'll score a lot of goals for them next year.

He's better than Carroll IMO and look at the goals he's scoring for WH when he can stay fit. He'd never have played as well for us, even if he was fully fit.

He is much better than Carroll tbf, but then again Carroll as a striker is pretty ****, basically in and around being a 1 goal in 4 games player who has a little streak (and at best it is probably a three to five goal burst over six or seven games normally) most seasons that has people saying "Carroll is back" and "Carroll for England".


Benteke in a team that suits him is somewhere between a 1 in 2 and 1 in 3 striker and as such we should be able to recoup more for him than we did for Carroll.


Benteke was simply the wrong player for how we wanted to play. Carroll on the other hand was bought on the back on a good half season in the Premiership and he has never looked like recreating that sort of sustained form in the five and a half years that have gone since that good half premiership season at the start of the 2010/11 season.
