He doesn't make enough runs into the box to even make that worthwhile, the big lazy lampost.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostSince we have the big lad here and no one else right now, is it beyond the realms to think we could try and adapt our system to try and get more out of him? I like klopp a lot, but his approach seems very similar to Rodgers. One up front, lots of pressing and counter attacking. It didn't suit Carrol, Mario, Lambert and now Benteke. These are all strikers that suit crosses, partners and a different attacking approach. In the past managers seemed to play different ways to utilise what they had. Now days, managers seem very stuck in their ways and stubborn. That's not just us, that's across the whole of football. I get you need an ideology and preferred method, but sometimes you need to be prepared to go against this if you don't have the players you want.

It would be interesting to see how his runs and positioning compares between his time with us and Villa. He always seemed to be involved in the limited number of times they got in and around the box, for us as people have been saying he often seems to be too far from the action.
Some of his movement to find space when he actually gets in dangerous areas still seems good to me."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I dont think we put in enough personallyOriginally posted by ashey View PostThing is, we do put plenty of crosses into the box. Benteke doesn't attack the boz / ball. He just stands there expecting the oppositions defenders to move out of his way, and for the ball to land perfectly on his forehead.
That said he isnt in the box enough (just like Balotelli) and he doesnt attack the ball as often as he should when he is in it
You can see hes effective when the stars align (we cross, hes in the box and he attacks it) but those things dont happen anywhere near enough for him to be the type of player that we should build our game aroundBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. One thing that strikes me about Benteke is when you look at the Southampton League Cup game
Origi showed us what even a half decent forward with a bit of desire can achieve
He ran the channels well, ran beyond their defence, attacked the ball in the box and he actually ran at their defence when he got it deep and he showed a great work rate off the ball
We dont get any of that from Benteke and its why for me when the others are fit hes nothing more than a 4th choice forward

I am not even convinced that Lovren has "worked out"Originally posted by BigChief View PostThe last of Rodgers' expensive legacy. Surprising that Lovren finally worked out, but we can put that down to a true one-off fluke.
As my mate was saying, can't wait to see Klopp finally get in some players.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

No chance - I'll be amazed if he's still here next seasonOriginally posted by Fredo View PostI've got a feeling Klopp will give him next pre season, get the time to have proper training sessions with him, before making any decision on his future.
Klopp is choosing to play without him even with our striker shortage; he's already made his mind upWhat do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

Really?Originally posted by Alex View PostHe is a bit of a lump isnt he. With Carroll he looked like he wanted to work hard. But with Benteke it just looks like anything other than a trot is hard graft.
Shame
Have you forgotten how many times we would break under Kenny and Carroll would just plod around in the centre circle? He was infuriating.

Yep all much of a muchness for meOriginally posted by Daniel 7 View Post
Or stand rocking on his heels instead of anticipating, he was never on the front foot. I couldn't stand his lack of movement. It might have been made to look all the worse next to Suarez, but he was just as maddeningly immoveable as Benteke and Balotelli.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life.
