I'm beginning to warm to him. Even for the 'missed' open goal the slow-mo shot showed he did everything right. Didn't try to be too clever trying to chip as he was slighly off balance and could have skewed the ball wide.

Just make sure you start putting away these chances though. Thankfully they haven't cost us the earth just yet.

He did okay. He's a striker and his job is to score goals. He missed some clear opportunities. I think against lesser opposition he'll do much better. I can't fault his work-rate, he needs to improve his finishing. I don't like the way we're hoofing the ball up to Benteke, I think he's a good enough footballer that we don't need to play that way. It's a good occasional option, but we are doing that too often.

I agree with this to a point but I think the hoof to Benteke is preferable to getting robbed of possession in our own third when trying to play our way out of defense - we have seen way too much of this during Rodgers tenure.

Currently, he seems a bit isolated but I think if we have a couple of players buzzing about closer to him, it could be an excellent option - as long as we don't rely on it (as Man did with with Fellaini)

absolutely, if the opposition presses the defence usually in groups of 2,3 or 4 and you hoof it to benteke who manages to hold possession you have likely just taken a few midfielders out of the game and created a lot more space for the likes of coutinho, firmino, Milner or can running forward.

as Paisley said, it's about the right ball. The right ball is always within the context of the situation.

I've mentioned it before but he's a strong cunt, some of those lads were bouncing off him last night haha!

I've played 5 a side against a lad like that albeit he's a bit fatter but he had a great touch and skill for a big lad, no one could get near the ball, if you went in hard on him he'd just use his body weight and barge you (not unfairly mind) but you wouldn't get the ball. Benteke is much the same.

If we ever get dan studge fit and playing alongside bentke then oppo defenses will **** themselves, a long ball will see either of them run on to it and feed the other.
