Difficult one as he'd be the exact opposite of Milner on the right.Originally posted by dww View PostI think Sturridge as a wide forward cutting in or a similar setup to that we played with Balotelli at Spurs would work. The issue would be getting our pressing working.Forwards.......

I think losing Suarez & Sturridge was the key to our downward spiral, but it really did show the glaring weaknesses in Rodgers. You can get away with a weak defence when you have the SAS up top, but as soon as he lost them he had to make that back line solid to make up for the lack of goals.Originally posted by Lecter View PostIt wasnt happening with Rodgers either
He made a rod for his own back numerous times by being cocky when things were going well. When Spurs were in free fall he said anyone spending that amount of cash should be challenging for the title. When Chelsea parked the bus he said anybody could coach a team to keep a clean sheet. Both comments bit him on the backside.
I was willing him on when he was amazingly given a stay of execution, but knew the game was up when he reverted back to a back 3 after ditching his 433.Forwards.......

He ain't that type of player tbh...he's worth having in the team and squad but this is where you miss Sturridge's movement....not enough player to pull the opposing defenders out and break their system...with Suarez,Sturridge and Sterling you had 3 players running and switching postilions and defenders would be ****ed.Originally posted by marcus50bucks View PostBenteke missed some chances today but I still think his movement is*poor and it's a part of his game he needs to improve.

Was at the game yesterday and have to say his movement was very good - people just didn't pass it to him when making runs. Counted 7 occasions in the first half when he made an early run in behind; with the right ball it was on, and only once did they play it up early onto him and we got a corner from it.

Ibe, Can, Lallana and Coutinho to a lesser extent seem to hold onto the ball far too long, trying to beat the extra man rather than looking for the quick pass. We need to get a little wiser in and around the opposition goal.Originally posted by Mike View PostWas at the game yesterday and have to say his movement was very good - people just didn't pass it to him when making runs. Went down far to easily for me today. He's a big chap and could do better by bouncing the defenders rather than throwing himself to the floor. He will do a job for us but if Sturridge is out we could do with a bit better. Perhaps we've been spoilt with strikers historically which brings me to this conclusion.

He reminded me of Heskey at points today when he was going to ground. He's a decent finisher which seem to come out of nowhere at times but I think he's more a plan B than a regular starter for us.Originally posted by Boogs View PostWent down far to easily for me today. He's got ability and if he could roll the defender he'd be more useful. Going down when he had time to turn his man on a few occasions today pissed me off. He's better than he showed today. Much better.Go **** yourself

The problem is obviously getting the ****er on the pitch!
Happy to see him as the backup for Sturridge a very good one at that but as you say keeping Sturridge fit is the big issue.

I still don't think we play to his strengths. We dick around with the ball too much instead of getting it in early and seeing what happens. I was watching him off the ball today and there were a few times lallana, firmino, milner etc had the ball and he had a good run on the CB and we didn't use it. I'm not saying whip it in all the time but i think an early cross suits him. Once a defence is settled and organised a cross is no good anyway.
