CM and a left back. Maybe a CB depending on the Sakho situation.

Would put all the remaining Benteke money towards a midfielder, and then use any other sales to help fund a LB purchase ( although I am starting to think that a first team level LB is not on Klopp's shopping list).

Yeah he does seems to like Moreno. A dominant CM is absolutely vital.

We don't want to get lumbered with him cos we are ****ing about trying to screw a few more quid out of Palace.
Because they were willing to pay £31m for a player who is unproven in the premier league in Batshuayi. Benteke is proven and still has a good goal per game ratio. They obviously have the money and are just testing the waters. £30m minimum

Would love to have a crystal ball to find out if Strootman is a perma crock or not.

A fit version of Strootman would be a nice foil for Can imo.

One thing I do like about Can is that he is enough of an all rounder that quite a few different types of CM/DM would probably slot in well beside him.

Strootman looked like a world beater before his injury. I'm not as sold on Can as some on here but looking forward to see how progresses this season. We do desperately lack a commanding CM that takes the game by the scruff of the neck.

I think Can has the highest ceiling of all our current CMs whilst currently being the best all rounder we have. Just think the guy needs a good player alongside him so that he can develop quicker as a player rather than rushing about trying to firefight.

Can strikes me as being the sort that falls into the natural leader role, and who would excel if given a higher calibre of troops to lead.

I could make a list of very different CMs (all ball winners but who bring very different qualities) and I could see any of them working well with Can whereas I would not have the same confidence in putting them in as a partner to one from Henderson, Allen, or Milner as I feel being partnered with any of those three leads to the other midfielder being overloaded at times.

Can for me is the kind of player who looks like he could develop into a player that becomes the heartbeat (if one forgives the cliche) of a team, whereas the rest of our current options are the kind of guys who (and not trying to be dismissive of them in an overly negative manner) do a job but often are the cause of their midfield partner having to do more than his share.

Of the three we currently have, Allen is the one I would pair with Can simply because he can set a tempo and his movement/game intelligence is very good. If Allen was built like Masch he would be some player given his current skill set.

He will do well there with the way they play and the wide players they now have. Get it done, even £25m is a decent claw back.

The grounds that he is having to drop down a level and play for a smaller team and there is loads of money available now due to TV money. All reasonable requests.
