Or possibly the club have given permission, as a deal is likely, but for thrashing out terms of payment?

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke's proposed departure is in jeopardy as the Anfield club try to recoup the full £32.5million they paid for the striker.
It is understood the Belgium international is happy to stay and fight for his place under manager Jurgen Klopp if the Merseysiders fail to reach a deal with his potential suitors, including Crystal Palace and West Ham.
Benteke has returned to Belgium following a post-Euro 2016 holiday in Ibiza with his future still in limbo.
Klopp is keen to cash in on Benteke, just 12 months after the club signed him from Aston Villa for £32.5million.
Palace and West Ham both have a genuine interest in Benteke, but Liverpool's attempts to recoup the money they spent on the striker is threatening to scupper any move, particularly given the forward currently earns £120,000-per-week at Anfield.
The asking price, coupled with a multi-million pound wage deal, is proving a stretch too far for both London clubs and unless Liverpool lower their valuation, Benteke could yet remain a Liverpool player next season.
Including Mario Balotelli, who can also leave this summer, Liverpool are currently spending £200,000-per-week in wages for two strikers Klopp doesn't want.

Odd that as wasn't someone at West Ham complaining just yesterday about Benteke's wage demands? And Palace have to all accounts offered us £25m then £27m+addons, which really isn't much off our valuation if we are looking to get all our money back.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

Maybe we're starting to play hardball in the market, finally. Benteke has firmly confirmed he wants his leaving bonus from us by stating he 'wants to stay and fight for his place' despite agreeing personal terms elsewhere. Duh. Can't blame him for that.
And there seems to be genuine interest in the market for him, in the PL and with China looking on keenly having lost (or going to lose) Alex Texeira. I'm glad we're making a stand at last. One tit for another.

All well and good when you have a great asset. Reality is if we are getting offered anything over 20m we should be saying yes, The longer he is here the more is value will decrease and god forbid if we have to play him his price will plummet!!Originally posted by BigChief View PostMaybe we're starting to play hardball in the market, finally.
