Seems to me that there is a clear plan in place with long term stability in mind with Klopp and LFC now.
This summer was about consolidating and trimming the excess fat from the squad. That I think can be said was a success. We got rid of some bad legacy signings from under Rodgers and made the overall squad slightly stronger. Only slightly mind.
Now I would expect us to kick on and address the weaknesses position by position. Hopefully the days of signing x player for £20m because of potential and on the basis of an algorithm are gone, it clearly doesnt work in the Prem.
This was the first summer since maybe Rafas first season that it seems like the manager has decided what players he wanted for his team. Nothing seemed to have been thrust on him, all of them fit to Klopp's very particular style.
So what do we expect from Klopp and LFC now? Should we look to the Winter and bring in even more players that will fill the roles. Or wait until the Summer again to reinforce and grow organically? I am fed up with short term fixes, but equally a long term plan starting over and over again is probably worse. Look at the mess we were in during Rodgers final days.*Except Michael, who died.

I like the transfers we have made. OK we may be short in a couple of areas, but Klopp is here for a contracted 6 seasons. That is 12 windows.
I expect if the right player was available that fit into his team he would have gone for it, the fact that he didn't throw a Stuart Downing, or a Big **** Chris or a Jermaine Pennant on us is great. This is a better version of the squad that got to the Europa League final and provided some fantastic League wins. Lets just see how it gets on before we bemoan the non existent Left Back who wanted to sign for us and we didn't go for. I don't think that player exists.
IF Klopp can get us back into Europe, we will be in a far better position than we were this summer. I think it is going to be a good season.Modifying post.

I agree, no point buying players we have to replace one year down the line.Originally posted by Buzzo View Post

Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but does not actually get you anywhere.

Yes but we're playing a 30 year old midfielder as a first choice left back.
I was over in Germany at the start of June and Jonas Hector was being reported there as pretty much a done deal - what happened? Did the price go up by a few million? That might seem negligible when it comes to the end of the season and we're thinking about when James Milner has cost points because it isn't his natural position, or the latest brain failure from Moreno.
I wonder if it was a playing style issue or just that the price went up past a value they thought was too much. Anything between £20m and £23m at this season's values would have been a steal to sort out that position - we don't have a left back!
