Champions League: Sergio Ramos criticises Jurgen Klopp in final row

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has told Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp "some of us have been operating at a very high level for many years - I'm not sure he can say the same".

Klopp was critical of Ramos after Real's Champions League win for a challenge on Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah that injured his shoulder.

He said the 32-year-old was "brutal" in his performance in the final.

But Ramos said: "I have no intention of hurting a player deliberately."

He added: "He will be wanting to explain not winning the final, but it's not the first that he has lost."

Klopp won his first final as a manager, the 2012 German Cup with Borussia Dortmund, but has lost his last six - including May's Champions League final and the Europa League final against Sevilla in 2016.

Salah landed heavily on his shoulder midway through the first half against Real, leading to the PFA Player of the Year being substituted. He later needed surgery on the injury.

Many Liverpool supporters blamed Ramos for the clash, which went unpunished by the referee, and a petition was raised calling for Fifa and Uefa to punish the Spain international.

Klopp also said a challenge from Ramos on Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius led to him suffering concussion before making two mistakes in the game.

Speaking before Real's Uefa Super Cup match against Atletico Madrid in Tallinn on Wednesday Ramos said he still rated Klopp.

"When we voted on the best managers I voted for him, so he can relax," Ramos said.

2-1 away and 4-2 at home. Neither were particularly impressive.

City was the fourth game of the season galling all the same.

Absolute nonsense. Did you watch the games? It was the first glimpse of what was to come from our forward line, Firmino was absolutely imperious in the 4-2.

No doubt you had a bad feeling, expected us to lose again, yet still weren't impressed when we blew them away.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

And going into that match we were in pretty good form. Regardless of what you say now, you were impressed with the home leg against Hoffenheim as well you should be. Watford was disappointing to concede that late goal but there were plenty of positives to take from the game, particularly our attacking play again. We beat our bogey team palace at home (1st time in 4 attempts I think). We then went on to stuff Arsenal 4-0.

If we'd have beaten City, it would have been one of our most impressive starts to a season in a long time. Moany *******s will always point to the 5-0 result, but many of us argued that we were more than a match for City that day and stood every chance of winning before the red card (as later matches have surely proven).

The knock-on effect of that can't be underestimated. We lost our most in form player for 3 matches (and whatever other amount of months before we got him back firing again) and a 5-0 whooping is hard to take for any team. We understandably weren't at our best for the next few games (bar Maribor) which ultimately led to the poor performance against Spurs, but it didn't mean we were suddenly a bad team and those performances earlier in the season counted for nothing. The foundations were there for us to go on and have a decent season as a few of us argued and were ultimately proven right. As I said, the reaction to one bad match that had mitigating factors leading up to it was utterly ridiculous and all those calling for Klopp to be sacked or moaning that we'll not reach KO stage of CL or finish top 4 were clearly made to look foolish.

Yeah, was gonna say. Hoffenheim at home was great, 3-0 in 20mins and Can's 2nd goal defo has a case for the best goal we've scored since Klopp has been here. Other than that though, yeah not impressive.

                      That goal is a peach.

I remember being really worried before that game and we totally blew them away.

I did. But I didn't remember too much of the 4-2 game obviously.
