Great at coordinating the attack but cannot set up a defence. I wonder what he can do to address it but suspect, and he's had long enough now, very little.

Never have I seen a team or squad that makes so many individual errors in games, it's ****ing infuriating. What is galling is that the same guys are making the same mistakes in every game. One step forward, two steps back. Why on gods green earth has Klopp not sorted this defence out at this stage or even improved it? There is no excuse, oh great we are getting a competitive midfielder next season & we may or may not go in for VDV or De Jrij next summer, that is ****ing useless to us now.

The fullback position are a joke. I give Clyne stick because he's **** going forward but he is a solid defender so the sooner he comes back the better. TAA is coming along nicely but will take time, Gomez is clearly not a RB and could he possibly do any worse at CB than Lovren or Klavan? Matip has started the season poorly but I cannot judge him playing beside not only a different partner every week but a **** different partner every week. No idea whats going on with Robertson or if he's any good but by god if it gets Moreno out of the side i'm all for it. Moreno did well in first half going forward but like in most games he cost us goals, that is never going to change the guy is wild and headless and his lack of awareness is truly something to behold.

As for that midfield trio, is there ever a game when all 3 guys play well. Ffs Wini (home game) was very good, Can after a great start to the season have reverted back in last 2 games & I genuinely worry about Henderson as LFC captain. Zero leadership skills. We always come back to the same weaknesses over and over and over. It's tedious at this stage.
Klopp refuses to acknowledge the team has issues in defence....in his 2 seasons at the club he's bought in Karius,Klavan,Matip and Robertson....hardly inspiring for a so called Top club... Robertson needs to feature more

          It's both

Are people seriously saying we wouldn't improve our defensive if we put a prime Alan Hanson in there?

Or our defence wouldn't improve if we had a prime Steve Nicol at leftback?

All systems have flaws but good players tend to cure everything

Sure we can make tweaks here and there but the majority of the goals we concede aren't from being too open, it's being lazy, switching off etc or just a clanger. Can was a disgrace on the 1st and not much better on the 2nd and I've no idea what Lovren was even doing.

On the other side, I dont think "the system" makes us boss going forward either, having a load of boss attackers does that. We've got loads of attackers who'd fit in fine at Barca, PSG, Real Madrid, Bayern, Juventus etc, how many of the midfield, defence or goalkeepers can we say that about? If we did a Leeds tomorrow and there was a fire sale who gets taken by top clubs? And there is the problem. Klopp walked in to a club conceding 50 a season and we've hardly spent a penny on trying to sort it out, it's utterly bizarre. Karius 4m - 5m, Matip 0, Klavan 4m, Robertson 10m. A keeper, a centre back, a back up centre back and a back up left back. So basically in 2 years we've tried to improve a side conceding 50 a season by signing a young goalie and a free transfer (fair enough Matip was a £20m we got for nothing because of the contract) but that's it really isn't it? And we wonder why we don't improve much.

We all make light of it, but perhaps Klopp really does subscribe to the "Its ok, we'll just score more goals than you" theory

He has signed players totalling £146,300,000 and of that, only £17m was spent on defenders

In addition, that £17m is Karius, Klavan and Robertson; none of whom are first choice! (arguably)

F*ck me, talk about drama queens.

When we lost our firepower last season, we tightened up at the back and started grinding out results. We had 7 clean sheets in 9 in the league before City. We tried to pay a world record fee for VVD and add another combative midfielder to the first 11. We generally restrict teams to few shots on goals and prevent set-piece specialists to few set-pieces. But Klopp obviously doesn't know what he is doing.

Yeah, a lot of people forget how strongly we finished last season, we held our nerve and took fourth place, a massive all round improvement on the previous season.

We are improving year on year, and we have the manager in place who can attract top talent. It is a ball ache that we couldn't get all of our signings over the line this summer, but, what can we do? No point moaning about what we don't have.

The worst bit is we cannot even bring in Hodgson now to replace Klopp.

That is what makes both the Watford and Sevilla games so frustrating, the chances we do give up are big chances usually the direct result of a individual mistake or a catalogue of mistakes. Indicating to me that it is a personnel issue more so than formation and tactics. I don't think the International break helped nor has the constant changing of the back line.

Our best defender Matip has had to contend with changing keepers, full backs and crucially CB partner. I see he is now being labelled by some as 'not that good' but one day he is playing with an aggressive partner who at times recklessly leaves his position whilst the next he plays with a more passive defender who drops deeper, whilst trying to support two young players at right back. I do believe if we kept a more settled backline we would see an overall improvement in defence but we are an offensive team so there will always be moments when we will be exposed.

I also think Milner may be an option at right back when a little more experience may be required. He performed admirably at left back last season with the main issue being that he cut back onto his right slowing up play but playing on the right would negate that.

In addition, this team has been set-up to get the best out of Coutinho, so without its major component it may at times stutter. Once fully fit and reintegrated it will allow any two from Henderson, Can or Wijnaldum to sit a little deeper and not squander possession trying to be the playmaker.
