Could be a few new faces playing in the starting 11 this weekend with all the International injuries

Sturridge must come into the reckoning as not played , anyone else been at Melwood

              42 in 16/17
              38 in 17/18

But in our last 38 league games overall, it's down to 24. The first time we've been at less than a goal a game over the equivalent of a season since Rafa.

As things stand, we're on track for conceding 14 this season!
Obviously a freak thrashing or 2, or just a collapse in form would throw that.

But I think that even conceding around 25 or less this season would be every bit as impressive as what Klopp achieved with our attack.

I actually am calm watching us at the back with Gomez and VVD playing plus Allison

Was swearing and shouting when we had Lovren / Moreno / Mig playing. I am sure they raised the BP of millions of reds

It is harsh to lump Lovren in with that (though I agree the defence with JG is our first choice). We were pretty close last season as those stats show with TTA Lov VVD Robbo, with only the sometime dodgy keeper letting the side down.

Allison has made a big improvement in the one area of genuine weakness. He brings a sense of calm to the position that I don't recall for a long time.

Deffo think Lovren has upped his game playing with VVD

Nice problem to have arguing over who should partner VVD and not having to pay 60 million like we thought we had to.

VVD has the same effect Suarez had on our attack and seems to up the level of those around him.

We have a peak Benitez era level defence.

Imagine someone told this would happen, even just a year ago.

The turnaround from what we've been used to for the previous 8 odd years, it's insane. This is every bit as impressive as what we were doing in attack last season.

The defence is really young too... counter intuative to my mind. Amazing stats.

Klopp is a genius... just need to sort the attack out again. It like doing a rubics cube. sorting out one bit can **** the rest up. a bit of patience is needed
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

It’s the midfield that’s gone backwards. At least until Naby and Fabinho settle.

I wish we could still put out a midfield of Emre, Gini and Ox this season. Our front 3 would have more goals with them driving forward, pressing and creating errors for them to pounce on. And that’s not to even mention Phil.

We are conceding less goals in large part due to the midfield being so stable and focused on not conceding gaps.
                              Are we winning?

That’s true, the midfield’s function has changed as well as the personnel.
