Thankfully, we have a manager who has suffered some utter **** scenarios trying to get promoted with Mainz twice; i.e. missing out on goal difference (single goal), and by a single victory, before achieving it.

It's all about the long term here, and I already fear if we finish second, some fans will lose their **** in self pity, thinking if we could do that again (large points haul etc).

For me, it's all about building a squad that can challenge year in, year out, and have the mentality to do so. We're going to have to get used to Man City dominating, so that's it. But it's utterly pointless thinking this is the closest we've been in years, because that's acting like it's a once in a generation opportunity to win the league.

It's about ensuring that if we do finish 3rd, or 2nd, the squad doesn't think, 'oh, that's it. Our best chance in a while and we blew it,' but, 'let's go one better next season'.

We've finished 2nd in 02/03, 08/09, and 13/14, faltering big time after that. We've not been able to build upon it. Now, we must do so, and not lose sight of that.

They got 100 points last season. They look like they're going to do it again. It's unprecedented. How they got there (clearly dodgy) is irrelevant. It's an impossible bar.

If we were hypothetically to get 90+ points this season I'd say that's a "major success" personally.

It would be a good haul and unfortunate if it won nothing but there's so much dog **** in this league now a massive points haul should be kind of expected. Won't be celebrating 2nd and 90 points over the summer if it happens but feel free to think differently.

City look so strong, it's a bit of a bitter pill to swallow. I think though Klopp needs to win a trophy. We've progressed massively and come so close to 2 European trophies and a domestic cup but we need to start winning some silverware.
