I think our midfield is the problem. Everything else stes from the fact we dont have the shape or press. Fab need to get back in the team... I know he was a bit crap earlier in the season, but Hendo looks done. Can do a job coming on but he has no intensity to his game. Thiago is getting old too, although he is obviously pure quality.

Problem is it takes a while for players to get used to the press and intensity, so een if we brounght in 3 new players, its going to take a while before we can expect a major improvement.

The problem is that Hendo was supposed to be transitioning to a cover position and select games. But, as ever , we get the injuries and he ends up having to play every game.

Its a bit galling after he was bitching about his contract when his body clearly isnt up to what is expected

It's the first time since Klopp has joined us that I feel he just doesn't know what to do.

I don’t know, I don’t think he had a fix for our defensive crisis either other than wait.

Yeah we didn't get a proper Trent replacement and we didn't do the business we desperately needed in that midfield. We are ****ed until we can get to January and even then **** knows. At least Nunez scored.

I get that, but did we need an aging and very expensive ‘cover position and select games’ midfielder in our smallish squad?

He had SuperNat waiting in the wings.

I dont think our kids can do a similar job on the midield though.

Maybe Keita will make a stunning return?

The issue with the midfield isn't helped by moving to 2 regular midfielders and 4 forwards. I really like Thiago he makes a big difference to the game when he has the ball but without it he isn't great sometimes his defending or tracking back seems somewhat token. With just 2 in midfield that can be a problem.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

JK is a victim of the ownership model. We run sustainably but our competitors don’t. We don’t have to waste the final two years of Klopp’s contract. A couple maybe three decent midfielders and this could still be sorted out next season.

Disagree - Thiago tracks the best of our midfield and is vastly under rated on his ability to tackle, intercept, press and win defensive headers - he usually tops the stats for most of those. He is the least of our problems right now…… our current formation lacks a proper 10. I had wondered if he’d play Thiago as a 10 with a double pivot of Hendo and Fab

He'll sort it out, he always does but he's got a job on his hands this year and January is massive. I can't see us getting anyone of note in January but there are some major issues in that squad, he needs to sort it out ASAP.

We need to get rid of players too, and that’s hard. We should just release Ox, he’ll never pay for us again anyway. Keita, Henderson and Milner need to be off the wage bill, arguably Bobby too. But we’re not going to be able do much of it in January, even if the club finally wants to. It’s going to be next summer realistically, and God knows what the financial outlook for us will look like then. We might be able to sort it, or we might already have left it too late.
