I thought the same, but then put it down to my desperation for him to stay longer than 7 years.

Wasn't there something like that with Dalglish after Hillsborough? We offered him to take a sabbatical, or he wanted one? Either way, it didn't happen. Take a year our, and then come back.

Maybe he has to talk it over with his wife.

I guess the last week might have given the Klopps something to think about?

I can’t see them abandoning this group of players, but you just never know.

He wanted a break before we came in.

No chance he'll be able to take one and come back. He wouldn't switch off from it and it sends a bad message to players. I'm just going to get off to ski for a bit.

In 3 years time, our starting XI age wise will more or less be:

          Alisson (29)
          TAA (23)
          VVD (30)
          Matip (30)
          Robertson (28)
          Fabinho (28)
          Henderson (31)
          Wijnaldum (31)
          Mane (30)
          Salah (30)
          Firmino (31)

Others like Oxlade Chamberlain will be 28, Gomez 25, Lovren 33.

I know some of our younger players may step up, and of course, it's dependent on our recruitment in those three years, but also, it'd look like we'd have to start thinking about a rebuild of sorts anyway.

Obviously it's great to have all in their prime now but does pose a massive problem further down the line. Would be ideally looking to refresh with 2-3 each year rather loads in 3-4 years time

I honestly think that the owners would accommodate that, if it's what he wanted. Interim coach for one season then have Klopp back for a few more, I'd take that. I don't think that's what the article is suggesting tough.

I think it's a nice idea in theory, just not practical in reality.

Got a Shankly/Paisley feel to it

So some of the previous quotes are:

And, judging to his comments prior to Wednesday night's Europa League final, the 48-year-old foresees a similar term at Anfield.

“Seven years in Liverpool hopefully," Klopp said. "Maybe you know better what people think when I joined the club. I am not sure about it but for me it's the only way to work to be honest.

“I don't feel the pressure. I cannot change. I feel opportunity. I feel the pressure of the game and developing players. I don't think I have all the time in the world but I don't think I've ever felt doubt around me.

“If that's right I don't know but it makes me completely free to make decisions and for my team and myself to be free to develop together."
Klopp said: “Even if you win something, which everyone here is desperately waiting for, it could be the moment I say ‘OK, but now we have to leave it’.

“Stay here 20 years? I don’t know. So far after seven years [at a club] I’ve felt maybe I should move on.

“I don’t feel I am close to that moment and everything is fine. But it would be quite difficult to become the record coach at Liverpool.

“If anyone thinks they can make a similar career like [Sir] Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger in clubs, I’m not sure it would be possible.” Wenger last won the Premier League title 13 years ago and since that title in 2003-04 Arsenal have only won the FA Cup on three occasions.

He didn't actually take a sabbatical from Dortmund. They had a rotten season and he came to a mutual decision to leave at the end of that season.

It's all second guessing, who knows what will happen. I'm sure he'd love to win the PL though before leaving, as would I.

He took a sabbatical from the game on leaving Dortmund though.
Was only 5 months as it turned out, but he didn't put a time on it.

Really don't see what the fuss is about, he's here for another 3 seasons. He'll be financially secure. I'd laugh it off and chill on a beach too.

Brewster will be 21 and Hoever will be 19.

“I am not tired. I may look tired but I am not. I am 0.0% tired,” he said. “I haven’t had any contact with any other clubs but am not planning a sabbatical, though it could of course be that I have to take one, or whatever a free half-year is called, I don’t know. I hadn’t planned any of this [to quit] but it was just right that we announced this today so that the club can plan ahead.

“We were able to create a wonderful piece of history. It’s very unusual for a story to last seven years in football. I will miss every single person here and that feeling will only grow with time.”

I think the fuss is that as things are we'd quite like him to stay longer, rather than any concern that Jurgen will ruin his life.
